Wheeled Chair, Stroller, Or Baby Carriage Patents (Class 280/647)
  • Patent number: 6722690
Abstract: A foldable stroller includes a positioning member disposed fixedly on one inclined lower rod of a front wheel unit, and a guideway member disposed fixedly on one inclined upper rod of a handle unit. A resilient element biases an abutment surface of a sliding element to engage a positioning surface of the positioning member, thereby locking the handle unit releaseably on the front wheel unit. The abutment surface and the positioning surface are inclined with respect to the longitudinal directions of the upper and lower rods. Actuation of a connecting element results in separation of the abutment surface from the positioning surface, thereby permitting folding of the handle unit on the front wheel unit.

  • Publication number: 20040041369
Abstract: A basket support of a foldable stroller includes an U-shaped rod, which has two juxtaposed lateral sections pivoted to respective rear extensions of a seat support of the stroller by means of pivotal blocks. The rod lateral sections and the pivotal blocks are constructed such that the U-shaped rod can only be moved towards, and close to, upper sides of the seat support extensions to a storage position. When the rear wheels of the stroller are detached, and when the stroller is folded to occupy less space in packing, the U-shaped rods are positioned in the folded position to not cause increase of dimensions to the packing case. The lateral sections of the U-shaped rod are substantially parallel with corresponding extensions of the seat support when the stroller is folded, supporting the stroller in upright position together with the rear wheels.

  • Patent number: 6698788
Abstract: A foldable structure for an infant stroller has a frame of an extended length for holding one or more seats. The frame is foldable and includes a handle bracket, armrests, front wheel brackets, rear wheel brackets and a seat bracket. The seat is mounted to the seat bracket. The seat has a backrest supported by an extendable rod. The extendable rod consists of an inner rod and an outer rod. The outer rod has a longitudinal trough to allow the inner rod to slide reciprocally therein. For installation, the inner rod is inserted into the longitudinal trough of the outer rod, pivotally engaged with the armrest, and the outer rod is pivotally engaged with the seat bracket. After completing all pivotal fastening, the armrest and seat bracket form a restriction to prevent the extendable rod from separating from the structure. When the frame is folding, the extendable rod is safer to use and more appealing because of no jutting screws or pins.

Abstract: A locking device for collapsable stroller is located at the gripping portion of handle. The locking device comprises a housing, a pair of meshed gear members in the housing pivotal in two different opposite directions, a push button engaged with gear members, and a pair of steel cables coupled to the gear members. Whereby, pressing a push button pulls steel cables toward the center of gripping portion, thereby unlocking the latches so as to unfold the stroller thereafter. The stroller further comprises a safety mechanism at the upper side of one gear member. Safety mechanism comprises a pawl-like member caught by the gear member in the locked state of the stroller, thus preventing latches from accidentally being unlocked.

Abstract: A disclosed walker is a three sided framework allowing quick connect/disconnect to the frame of a conventional standard wheelchair. The walker is formed with a front and two side assemblies pivotally linked to the front assembly. When the walker is not connected to a wheelchair, the side assemblies and front assemblies pivot and collapse into a “z” pattern forming a flat, compact package. For connection to a wheelchair, the sides assemblies unfold perpendicularly to the front assembly, and are locked into place by a horizontal crossbar. U-shaped securing clips located at the rear ends of the walker's side assemblies, drop over and straddle horizontal frame members of the wheelchair tightly grasping the wheelchair's frame members. The stability of the walker/wheelchair combination is enhanced by outward bends of the front vertical sections of the walker which terminate in swivel caster supports.
