Abstract: A foldable stroller includes a pair of rear legs, a pair of hollow handle tubes, a pair of front legs, a pair of bracing rods, a pair of locking members, a pair of plungers, a pair of actuating members, and a pair of biasing members. Each handle tube has a lower end with a forward enlarged portion. Each front leg has an upper end with a rearward enlarged portion. When the handle tubes are moved from a folded position to a stretched position, the forward enlarged portion moves from a first angular position where the forward enlarged portion overlaps slightly with the rearward enlarged portion, to a second angular position where the forward enlarged portion overlaps extensively with the rearward enlarged portion. Each locking member has a hooked portion disposed on the rearward enlarged portion and a rear hooking portion that is pivotally mounted on the forward enlarged portion, and that engages the hooked portion when the forward enlarged portion is in the second angular position.

Abstract: A wheelchair side frame comprises a front side frame and a rear side frame coupled to the front side frame. The front side frame is adjustable relative to the rear side frame to vary the elevation of the rear side frame relative to the front side frame. The front and rear side frames may each have upper and lower portions. A first coupling couples the upper portion of the rear side frames to the upper portion of the front side frames. A second coupling couples the lower portion of the rear side frames to the lower portion of the front side frames. The first and second couplings are adjustable in elevation. A wheelchair may comprise a pair of side frames each including a front side frame and a rear side frame coupled to the front side frame. The rear side frames are adjustable in elevation relative to the front side frames. A pair of rear wheels supports the rear side frames and a pair of front casters supports the front side frames.

  • Patent number: 6260867
Abstract: The present invention relates to a child walker, which utilizes a circular base member and a specially designed moving device to provide the functions of tipping preventing and auto-braking. By these designs, the child walker can prevent from tipping when it passes over an edge of a floor or vicinity of stair steps and control the speed of the child walker. The moving device is connected to the bottom of the circular base member for supporting the circular base member, wherein the moving device further comprises un-directional rollers for moving to an uncertain direction, directional rollers for moving to a certain direction but with a little deviation in angle from the forward direction and a stopping means for prevent the child walker from tipping when any roller is passing over an edge of a floor and then inclining by the friction between the bottom of the circular base member and the surface of the floor.

Abstract: A foldable powered mobility device includes an actuator for providing an output signal in response to movement of the actuator by a user of the device. A central processing unit receives the signal correlating to the actuator angle of articulation and the direction of articulation and creates a series of signals to independently drive motors, thereby controlling the speed, direction and travel of the mobility aid to that desired by the operator. The central processing unit also receives signals from tachometers monitoring the speed and direction of travel for each wheel. The central processing unit creates an independent signal to control the speed and direction of travel of each of the right and left drive motors. By independently driving each drive motor, the mobility aid is powered in the desired direction at the desired speed.
