  • Patent number: 4415181
Abstract: On a motorcycle trailer having a torsion bar suspension system a torsion bar communicates a resulting torque from a fixed connection on said trailer to a fixed connection on one floating link of a dual floating link parallelogram wheel suspension strut system so that a generally downward force is exerted on the road wheel by such one floating link pivotally connected between the trailer and the road wheel with further provision for adjusting the height of such wheel by adjusting the axial orientation of the torsion bar with respect to its trailer mounting.

  • Patent number: 4405144
Abstract: Trailer and trailer connector for tractor/trailer for carrying elongated, self-supporting load. Tractor has conventional swivellable front bunk for supporting front of load, and trailer has a wheeled rear bogey and a non-swivelling rear bunk for rear of load. The trailer connector has a flexible link and a forward connection which connects forward end of link to front bunk and a rear connection which connects rear end of the link to the trailer. Length of the link does not change while towing the trailer and thus maintains tractor/trailer wheel alignment prior to loading. Trailer connector is considerably lighter than conventional telescopic trailer reaches, thus increasing maximum payload of tractor/trailer, and is less costly and easier to maintain than trailer reach, and also provides a more stable load platform.

  • Patent number: 4375943
Abstract: A portable pump for displacing water having a frame supported by ground contacting wheels for transport, an elongated tubular conduit with an impeller mounted therein and a drive shaft with one end connected to the impeller and the other end having a non complex universal bearing joint for detachably coupling directly to a driving motor shaft of a farm tractor or other prime mover. The drive shaft exits the tubular conduit on the underside so that the angle between the driving motor shaft and impellar drive shaft is at a minimum angle when the tubular conduit inlet end is tilted below horizontal in order to submerge the inlet end of the conduit into the water from the edge of a steep irrigation bank. This enables the portable pump with the non complex universal bearing joining to be backed onto the bank of a water source such as an irregation canal, stream, or lake. A casing around the drive shaft allows the shaft to become embedded into the crest of the bank allowing the inlet portion to be submerged.

  • Patent number: 4358134
Abstract: An improved I beam construction for longitudinal I beams preferably as used n trailer frames. The I beam is comprised of a top flange, a bottom flange, a vertical web wall interconnecting the top and bottom flanges along their centerlines in a customary manner, for a substantial part of its length, with the novel aspect including a portion of the vertical web wall offset laterally toward the outer side edges of the top and bottom flanges so that said offset wall portion is essentially flush with those said edges. The purpose of this offsetting is to provide more advantageous horizontal and vertical mounting surfaces for saddle mount capability and attachment of a trailer's wheel suspension assembly, which construction is found to be stronger than can otherwise be fabricated.

  • Patent number: 4305602
Abstract: A lightweight utility trailer with a lockable enclosure to provide additional carrying space for vehicles having small trunk areas. The utility trailer is closely connected to a towing vehicle by two pivoted, laterally spaced apart attachment members. Two pivoted wheel assemblies allow the utility trailer to follow a towing vehicle's rear end movements, so as to facilitate the parking and the overall operation of the trailer. A unique frame and suspension provides a low mounting for the center part of the trailer body. The trailer body is attached to the frame by slides to allow the trailer body to be in a closely coupled relationship with a towing vehicle during a towing operation, and yet permit the trailer body to be moved apart from the towing vehicle to allow easy access to the vehicle trunk. A low, lift-over, cut-out is provided in the rear of the trailer body to allow easy placing of objects in the trailer body, and removal of the same.

  • Patent number: 4180172
Abstract: A load-carrying trailer of a transport vehicle has mounted therein a load platform of which a rear section is adapted to be moved slidably in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the trailer. A front section of the load platform is divided laterally into a plurality of sub-sections adapted to fold together toward the front of the trailer when the rear section moves forwardly and adapted to extend and staighten out when the rear section moves rearwardly. • Patent number: 4175916
Abstract: A pump supported from a wheeled trailer having a hitch connection with a tractor drawbar and a drive connection with the power take-off of the tractor with the pump including dual inlets enabling it to be backed into a ditch, sump, concrete canal, sewage lagoon, or the like. The hitch includes an elevated central portion defined by upwardly angulated portions rigidly connected at the center to facilitate the pump and its supporting frame and wheels being easily backed into and operated in relatively deep ditches. A drive shaft includes a universal joint supported at the apex of the angulated portions of the hitch so that the portion of the drive shaft connected to the tractor power take-off will be substantially in alignment with the power take-off on the tractor when the pump and its supporting frame and wheels are positioned in a deep ditch, sump, concrete canal, or the like.

  • Patent number: 4149748
Abstract: A towable caravan consists of a body which can be demounted from the trailer on which it is towed, and can then be mounted on legs to function as a stationary accommodation unit. The trailer is specially adapted so that when it is removed from under the caravan body a frame tent can be pitched upon its upper surface, which has a floor, to provide a second accommodation unit with the advantage over a conventional tent that it has a flat floor raised off the ground. Provided with the caravan are the tent, legs for the caravan body and jacks for lifting the body off the trailer.

  • Patent number: 4095818
Abstract: A trailer frame for carrying tall, heavy loads includes a pair of parallel frame members of generally Z-shaped cross-sectional configuration joined together by cross-bracing to form a rigid structural frame in which the bottom flanges of the frame members extend inwardly to provide means for supporting a load inside the trailer frame. A pair of suspension springs and a tongue adapted for connection to a towing vehicle are secured to portions of the frame members located above the plane of the load-supporting flanges so as to lower the c.g. of the load. The front portion of the tongue has a step-neck for positioning a coupler at towing height above the plane of the load-supporting flanges. The tongue together with suspension spring brackets and fender braces are rigidly affixed to the frame members in a manner which increases the torsional resistance of the trailer frame.

  • Patent number: 4093253
Abstract: A chassis frame for motor vehicles in which cross members projecting from sides of the frame interconnect longitudinal members in the form of hollow girders. The longitudinal members have openings in their side walls, and these openings conform with the cross-section of the cross members. The cross members have a center section and abutting end sections inserted from the sides through the openings into the hollow interior of the longitudinal girders. The cross members pass through the longitudinal members so that the end sections project beyond these longitudinal members. The center section of the cross members penetrate the wall of the longitudinal members facing the vehicle center. The center section and the end sections abutt each other bluntly and are connected to each other by welds within the interior of the hollow section of the longitudinal members. The end sections of the cross members, furthermore, pass through the outer wall of the longitudinal members.
