A pair of first and second hinges couples each outer cover to the respective inner cover to facilitate pivotable, unfolding movement of the outer covers. Abstract: A method for producing a bundle composed of book blocks includes gathering a plurality of printed sheets to form respective book blocks. The plurality of the book blocks are positioned with the same orientation and respectively positioned on lower edges of the printed sheets. Respectively two adjacent book blocks are offset from one another parallel to the lower edges of the printed sheets and transverse to a height of the bundle to be formed, such that a side edge of one of the two book block projects relative to a side edge of the adjacent book block. Thereafter the offset book blocks are combined to form the bundle and the bundle is compressed to fix the offset position of the book blocks.

Abstract: The children's organizational notebooks are a system of calligraphy notebooks that are color-coded to relate to a particular academic class or subject. For example, a green notebook could relate to a computer class, a red notebook could relate to a science class, etc. The notebooks are fashioned to employ different calligraphy (first, second, third, quadrille 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm and regular lines). As presently contemplated, the notebooks will be available in eight different, bright colors.

Abstract: A book block is contemplated to be bound in its individual sections through various techniques. These sections will be attached to the book cover by a magnetic or mechanical way. The user of the book will then be allowed to select and detach individual sections of the book without destroying the integrity of the entire book block. Likewise, publishers of the book are now able to update and/or replace sections of an entire book block without needing to reprint and republish the whole book.

Magnetically-attracting elements are included in both the spine of the book and a flap that is attached to a fore-edge side of one of the covers. These elements allow the books to be linked side-by-side. A collection of books can be offered as a set, with a separate book for substantially each of the letters of the alphabet. An optional pocket located on the outside spine area of the book cover may be fashioned to contain pens, pencils, rulers, etc. A method of making the cloth book cover uses overlock stitching along the top and bottom edges of the cover and along the unfolded edges of the pockets.

A second embodiment discloses a pocket binder and ringed binder combination with the pocket binder attached to the ringed binder by the insertion of the rings through the holes in the pocket binder.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing the user to simultaneously monitor and modify the intake of specific nutrients in a graphical manner. A booklet is utilized for simultaneously monitoring two independent nutrients so as to ensure that the total amount of intake of the first and second nutrients satisfies the requirements of their respective predetermined values. The booklet includes a chart with a series of vertical and horizontal marks to form a grid with numerical labels along the edges of the grid. The user determines the maximum daily intake of the two nutrients based on specific parameters for the individual. A line is drawn parallel to each axis of the chart to indicate the minimum or maximum daily intake of each nutrient. The intersection of the lines is the starting point for each day, graphically showing the user the allowable quantities for each nutrient. The booklet also includes food listings which supply the user with the necessary values for charting each of the variables.

The binder is attached to the directory and the improvement resides in one or more auxiliary sheets, each folded in accordion fashion and carried by the binder inside the top cover so as to lie, in folded mode between the binder top cover and the directory top face. When the binder is open, the sheets can be unfolded to extend outwardly to present an area several times that of any page in the directory and is thus adapted to carry indicia in addition to the listings in the directory. The sheet or sheets are carried by a channel element attached to the inside of one of the binder covers.

Abstract: To analyze a human patient's heart activity over an extended period of time a portable EKG monitor is attached to the patient through electrodes and the patient maintains a diary of his activities and subjective feelings over a monitoring period. The recorded data is then used to form a graphic record consisting of a plurality of trace segments each representative of short consecutive intervals in the overall monitoring period. These records are necessarily to a very reduced scale and to allow the physician to obtain more detailed information regarding anomolous periods the graphic record is observed and various interesting segments are recorded on a substantially amplified scale. The first macroscopic and the second microscopic display segment are arranged in book form with the enlarged microscopic display segments on opposed pages from the macroscopic display segments to allow their simultaneous review and evaluation.

Abstract: A booklet containing a multiplicity of multi-page pamphlets is affixed to a bulk container for prescription drugs. Each pamphlet can be removed from the booklet for dispensing with a filled prescription. Each pamphlet serves as a patient package insert. Abstract: A thin lightweight strip of booklets and method of making the same are disclosed. The booklets are comprised of one elongated sheet folded in thirds, then in half, then in half to define pages of the same size without the use of fasteners. The booklets are connected end to end to form a strip which is separable along perforation lines. The strip of booklets has a fold line between and adjacent the free ends of said sheet along one edge of said strip and only fold lines along the opposite edge of said strip. The strip of booklets is adapted to be sealed within an envelope.
