Abstract: A method of producing a label for a prescription pharmaceutical storage container includes providing a label system having at least a first label panel, a second label panel, and a third label panel positioned on a single rectangular label. Indicia providing critical prescription information is printed on the first label panel. On the second panel, indicia providing one of a continuation of the prescription information and warning information is printed. The continuation of the prescription information is printed on the second label panel when a length of the prescription information is too long to fit on the first label panel and the warning information is printed on the second label panel when the length of the prescription information fits on the first label panel. The warning information is printed on the third label panel when prescription information is printed on the second label panel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a prefabricated secure foldable multilayer label intended to be adhered onto a substrate, including built-in security means (13, 23), characterized in that it includes a first flap (1) and a second flap (2), each including a transparent substrate layer (11, 21), said flaps being separated by a folding line and capable of overlapping and being adhered along a first surface (61, 62) of said flaps (1, 2). According to one advantageous aspect, the prefabricated label includes a removable printable sheet (4), which can be used e.g. as a receipt. Abstract: A computer based system for taking the physical inventory of liquids dispensed in full and partially full containers. A database stores images of containers and their associated volumes. The containers to be inventoried are identified by a user and input to a computer at a graphical user interface (GUI) input/output. A computer causes the display of an image of the container and a sliding level indicator at the GUI. The level indicator is slidable along the image. The computer calculates a volume of liquid remaining in the container as a function of the position of the level indicator along the image of the container.

Abstract: An index label and a method for applying an index label to a sheet or folder. A label assembly includes labels in a column, and each of the labels includes a fold line. A registration structure is adjacent the label column. Each label can be partially folded into a raised position, and the item to be label placed adjacent the raided portions, such as using the registration structure to align the item. The raised portion is lowered and adhered to the item. The remainder of the label is then removed from the label assembly and folded to adhere to itself and/or the item to form an index label on the item.

Abstract: Described is a technology by which medical patient facial images are acquired and maintained for associating with a patient's records and/or other items. A video camera may provide video frames, such as captured when a patient is being admitted to a hospital. Face detection may be employed to clip the facial part from the frame. Multiple images of a patient's face may be displayed on a user interface to allow selection of a representative image. Also described is obtaining the patient images by processing electronic documents (e.g., patient records) to look for a face pictured therein.

Abstract: A receipt and label roll comprises a core and a web having a longitudinally-extending axis and wound on the core along the axis. The web includes (i) a substrate having a front side and a back side opposite the front side, (ii) a thermally-sensitive coating disposed on the front side of the substrate, (iii) adhesive disposed on a portion of the back side of the substrate along the web axis, and (iv) a release coating disposed on the front side of the substrate along the web axis to prevent the adhesive from sticking to the front side of the substrate when the web is wound on the core. The web further includes (v) a longitudinal weakened structure extending along a direction parallel to the web axis and dividing the web into a first web portion on which the adhesive is disposed and a second web portion which is substantially devoid of adhesive.

Abstract: A process for creating adhesive signage for in-store shelving involves applying a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) tape to paper and then printing the signs on the modified substrate. The adhesive strips are 10 mils thick and the paper is 8 mils thick with the tape being positioned on a top portion only of the paper. This creates uneven stack issues in the feeder of the printer that prevents proper feeding of the sheets into the printer. These issues are eliminated by providing taped media imposition that orients the PSA to signage card color bands which are imposed in a mirror image. Mirror imaging of indicia on the card color bands evens out the sheet stack and enhances sheet feeding.

Abstract: A luminescent nanocomposite comprising functionalized graphene and a luminescent moiety, its fabrication, and uses are described. The luminescent moiety is anchored non-covalently to the functionalized graphene. Luminescence properties of the nanocomposite may be modulated by choosing appropriate luminescent moieties such as native lactoferrin, native lactoferrin protected gold clusters, and so forth. Mechanical properties of the nanocomposite may be modulated by adding a biopolymer such as Chitosan. The nanocomposite may be used as a luminescent ink for encoding information, or a luminescent film for tagging articles of manufacture such as electronic waste components.

The art sample, which can be a lower quality replica of an original art piece, may be printed utilizing a printing technique which results in the art sample degrading after a pre-defined period of time. The art sample may then be shipped to the user to aid in determining whether to purchase the original art piece by utilizing the art sample to visualize the potential purchase in the user's own viewing space.

The label has information related to the delivery of the article by the special service on the front side. The back side of the label attaches to the article. An electronic return receipt information section and a special services designation section including information indicative of the special service are located on the label. The mailpiece is prepared for delivery by the special service by printing information on the form necessary to comply with the special service delivery requirements. The information has data concerning electronic return receipt of the mailpiece and a machine-readable code section with machine-readable information associated with the mailpiece. The laminate includes a facestock layer, an adhesive layer, and a liner layer. The facestock layer includes a print-receiving top coat layer that includes a combination of titanium dioxide and one or more optical brighteners. The combination of these materials avoids build up of static charges upon laser printing on the facestock.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for preventing reuse of a surgical instrument. The single-use surgical instrument includes a housing, an electrical connector and a treatment component. Indicia may be printed on the housing, the electrical connector and/or the treatment component. A removable ink is applied to any portion of the surgical instrument in the form of indicia that is readable by a scanning device. The removable ink includes a protein-based composition that is reactivateable with a sterilization solution having an enzyme-based composition such that upon sterilization, the removable ink reacts with the sterilizing solution and becomes unreadable by the scanning device.

When an adhesive is applied to the removable chad and the border strip, the shipping label can be secured to a surface by the adhesive and subsequently removed from the surface by detaching the border strip and the chad from the sheet, while the first and second printable portions remain attached along the connecting strip. The invention includes a method and apparatus for applying the shipping document to a surface.

Abstract: Printer devices occasionally cause electronic documents to be automatically contracted prior to printing, in order to ensure that all of the content to be printed will fit within the dimensions of a page. Where the electronic document includes information having close tolerances, such as information to be printed on an address label or other defined region on a sheet, the automatic contraction may cause the information to be misaligned with respect to the label or other defined region. Automatically expanding the information within the electronic document prior to printing may counter this effect, and increase the likelihood that the information will be printed within the label or other defined region for which it is intended.

A plurality of protruding elements is randomly disposed on the printed layer. A transparent overcoat layer is tightly bonded over the protruding elements and the printed layer to enclose and secure the protruding elements and form effective protection for the printed layer, such that the protruding elements offer a tactile sensation as well as visual identification of the distribution pattern of the protruding elements. In addition, information is provided on at least one surface of the printed layer or the overcoat layer, which, upon analysis, allows a user to connect to a default data storage device in order to obtain anti-forgery information of a product.

Abstract: It is provided a label for attaching on a packaging, particularly for cosmetical and/or pharmaceutical products, comprising a packaging label with a machine-readable identification code, particularly an EAN-barcode, and a cover label covering at least partially the identification code for rendering the identification code machine-unreadable, wherein the cover label is adapted for irreversibly damaging the identification code. Due to the cover label the identification code is machine-unreadable, so that a scanner cash register would not accept a packaging provided with this label and a resale is prevented. Since the identification code would be irreversibly damaged by the cover label, the identification code stays machine-unreadable even when the cover label is removed. The risk for an unauthorized resale of a packaging can be reduced in a facilitated manner.

Abstract: Laminates and methods of making them are generally provided. The methods of making a laminate for use as a clothing tag can include laminating a first fibrous web to a second fibrous web. Both the first and second fibrous webs can include cellulosic fibers and a binder composition present in the respective fibrous web from about 10% by weight to about 100% by weight of the dry weight of the fibrous web. Both the first and second binder composition can include a curable latex polymer and a crosslinker. The second fibrous web can be creped and can have a thickness less than 10 mils. The laminate can be aged for at least about 1 hour at an aging temperature of greater than about 150° F. The resulting laminated and their use in clothing are also provided.
