  • Patent number: 5273281
Abstract: A game card and associated playing method. The game card is used for playing a number game of chance in which players guess a sequence of a sub-group of said randomly generated numbers. The game card and associated playing method comprises a game card printed with a series of numbers divided into groups of numbers each group being associated with a group designator. The player indicates her guess by selecting the group designator which either matches her guess or is associated with the group which contains her guess. The game cards are marked so as to allow scoring by an optical scanner. The player which correctly guesses the identity and sequence of a sub-group of randomly generated numbers, such as are randomly generated during a bingo or keno game or during a lottery, is the winner.

  • Patent number: 5228692
Abstract: A gaming form such as a lottery ticket or the like, and a method for constructing the same, employ a biodegradable and recyclable paper substrate as the base, made from recycled fibers provided with carbon black for a high degree of opacity, and having biodegradable binders and coating layers made from water based coatings. The gaming form includes an opaque paper substrate which can be partly recycled fibers in a protein based binder, and defines the base of the form. The base, which is black, is coated with titanium oxide layers to resemble white paper. Indicia affecting the value of the form, for example indicia indicating winning status, is printed on the coating and covered with a non-concealing varnish protective layer, and by a water-based scratch-off coating, which also is environmentally safe. Successive layers of scratch-off coating and the inks applied to the form generally, are water based dispersions of resins, fillers, pigments and surfactants. A non-stick powder is applied as a last step.

  • Patent number: 5217258
Abstract: A break open game ticket comprises a first and second substrate laid back to back. Each substrate includes an upper half which includes information concerning winning combinations of symbols and a lower half which includes three break open panels. One substrate is inverted relative to the other substrate so that the panels of one are aligned with and overlie the information section of the other thus keeping the panels entirely separate. The panels on one side can therefore be opened to expose the combinations printed on the backside of the information area of the other substrate. The games are thus independant and provide a novelty effect improving the pleasure of the game player.

The dispersion is adjusted to a pH greater than 7.0, and preferably a surfactant is added as a wetting, defoaming and/or dispersing agent. A pigment of metallic particles such as aluminum paste is added, together with a powdered filler such as calcium carbonate, at about 5 to 25% by weight of the coating composition. The composition can be applied in successive layers, including outer layers of relatively higher proportions of resin for improving wet rub resistance. For the outer surface layers, a number of ink formulations are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5100180
Abstract: A retail coupon document contains two coupons which are hidden from a coupon user, the coupons being for different values. The user selects and pulls one of two intersecting pull strips, thereby revealing one of the coupons and destroying the other, depending upon which pull strip is selected. The pull strips are formed by perforated division lines which are so arranged that a downstream portion of each pull strip passes through one of the coupons. Thus, the revealed (non-destroyed) coupon will possess such downstream perforations. The perforated lines are configured such that each pull strip is less resistant to being pulled off in an upstream portion thereof than in a downstream portion thereof. This ensures that the revealed coupon will not be unduly weakened by the presence of perforations therein.
