Compressed By Tightening A Bolt Coaxial To Tubing Patents (Class 285/123.14)
  • Patent number: 11867003
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for extending reach in a wellbore in oil well operations. In one implementation, a first coiled tubing string has a first coil interior surface, and a second coiled tubing string is disposed within the first coiled tubing string and has a second coil exterior surface. An annulus is defined by the first coil interior surface and the second coil exterior surface. The annulus is sealed proximal to a top end of the first coiled tubing string via a first seal and sealed proximal to a bottom end of the first coiled tubing string via a second seal. A fluid is sealed within the annulus at a pressure.

  • Patent number: 9976928
Abstract: Test flange assemblies comprise a flange body and a piston. The piston is configured to translate relative to the flange body and has an outer surface facing away from the flange body and an inner surface facing toward the flange body. The outer surface defines a circular seal channel for receiving a seal structure between the piston and a flange surface of a flanged component. The outer surface radially inward from the circular seal channel has a surface area that is less than a surface area of the inner surface. Methods of testing pressure containing structures comprise operatively positioning the test flange assembly, positioning a seal structure within the circular seal channel of the piston, coupling the flange body to a flanged component, and pressurizing a volume between the piston and the flange body so that the piston compresses the seal structure between the piston and the flanged component.

  • Patent number: 8960276
Abstract: A wellhead seal device forms metal seals in an annular space between inner and outer tubular members such as a rough casing held within aligned casing and tubing heads. An annular metal sealing sleeve has a lower portion seated in the annular space, and an upper portion which forms an inner sealing annulus adjacent the outer wall of the inner tubular member. A metal seal ring and a wedge ring are located in the inner sealing annulus. A retaining ring is retained by the upper portion above the wedge ring. Threaded seal energizing members extend through the retaining ring to push downwardly on the wedge ring and compress the metal seal ring radially inwardly to form a metal seal to the inner tubular member and thus seal the inner sealing annulus. The lower portion of the annular metal sealing sleeve may seal to the casing head and to the casing.

  • Publication number: 20010045747
Abstract: An elastomeric gripping element is supported and mounted by a housing and is configured to have an interference fit under normal conditions with the surface of the object to be gripped. The housing and the surface to be gripped are separated by a gap. For gripping mating with the surface, the elastomeric gripping element is initially stretched by operative means in the housing element in an axial direction parallel to the generating element of the comating surface to be gripped, with an attendant reduction in its cross-sectional thickness perpendicular to the direction of stretch. In this manner, the gripping element interference with the comating surface of the object to be gripped is minimized or eliminated for installation. When positioning for the installation mating is accomplished, the gripping element tension is selectively released, permitting the gripping element to attempt to return to an unstretched position and thereby to assume a preloaded position against the comating surface.
