Patent number: 11013316Abstract: A surface including a notch. The notch is defined by first and second surfaces, wherein the second surface extends at a non-zero angle with respect to the first surface. The surface includes a metal edge inserted entirely into a volume of space defined by the first and second surfaces and attached to the surface. The metal edge includes a first piece having a male connector. The metal edge further includes a second piece that includes a female connector that interconnects with the male connector, wherein when the male connector engages the female connector the second piece extends lengthwise along a direction at which the first piece extends. The metal edge further includes a front surface that faces away from the second surface and a rear surface that faces the second surface and covers a portion of the second surface.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2017Date of Patent: May 25, 2021Assignee: DE GIULIO DESIGNS, LLCInventor: Michael De Giulio

Patent number: 10767795Abstract: A fitting for attaching flexible tube to rigid tube comprises a fluid passageway, a tubular metal body, and a polymeric body. The fluid passageway extends through the tubular metal body and the polymeric body is interlocked with the metal body. The polymeric body encircles the fluid passageway and the metal body. A portion of the polymeric body that encircles the metal body forms a male fitting that comprises at least one annular rib or barb and that is configured and adapted to snugly slip into the end of a flexible tube with a press fit. A portion of the polymeric body extends beyond the metal body along the fluid passageway and defines a female socket that is configured and adapted to snugly receive an end of a rigid tube. The socket is configured and adapted to be solvent bondable to polymeric material.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2015Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: Anderson Copper and Brass Company LLCInventors: David R. Patent number: 9803781Abstract: One of a first metallic pipe containing a first metal as a main component and a second metallic pipe containing a second metal as a main component includes an expanded-diameter connecting part which is formed at an end part of the one metallic pipe. An inner diameter of the end part is greater than an inner diameter of an adjacent part that is adjacent to the end part. An intermetallic compound layer of the first and second metal is present at an interface of the first and second metal located between a brazing filler metal and the one or the other of the metallic pipes. A thickness of the intermetallic compound layer is configured such that the thickness of an end portion on the side of a base end is smaller than the thickness of an end portion on the side of an open end.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2011Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: DAIKIN INDUSTRIES, LTD.Inventors: Tomonori Kikuno, Teruo Kido, Hiroshi Yamashita

Patent number: 9273562Abstract: Superalloy components are joined by mating a recess formed in one component with a corresponding projection formed in another component along a contact surface. The components are compressed along the contact surface and resistance heat welded to each other. Current is passed between the components at a selected flow rate and application time until localized melting occurs along the contact surface, and they are mutually affixed to each other. When repairing a damaged surface portion of a superalloy material component, the damaged portion is removed to form an excavated recess. A repair splice is formed, preferably of a same material with similar mechanical structural properties, having a mating projection with profile conforming to the corresponding recess profile. The splice and substrate are resistance heat welded under compression pressure until localized melting occurs along the contact surface, so that they are mutually affixed.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2012Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: Siemens Energy, Inc.Inventor: Gerald J. Patent number: 9121529Abstract: A rigid-to-flexible connector (RFC) is provided on the rigid pipe section instead of a pipeline end termination (PLET), and the pipe end having the RFC is raised to the surface of the sea, while leaving a portion of the rigid pipe section on the seabed. The RFC is then connected to one end of the flexible pipe section, and the latter lowered to the seabed, with the raised, end of the rigid pipe section attached, to return the rigid pipe section to the seabed. Since the RFC on the rigid pipe section is connected to the flexible pipe section at the surface of the sea, the RFC can have a simpler, lighter, technical design, resulting in significant cost, manufacturing time and quality control time savings.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2011Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: Subsea 7 LimitedInventors: Jessica da Silva Machado, Peter Tanscheit, Frederico Nicoletti De Fraga, Paulo Marcio Moreira Castro

Patent number: 8695868Abstract: Devices and methods of welding dissimilar materials are contemplated in which an adaptor is used in an intermediate position between the dissimilar materials. Most preferred adaptors are manufactured by friction stir welding from two dissimilar materials that are identical or similar to the dissimilar materials to be welded together. Therefore, coupling of dissimilar materials in the field via the adaptors is greatly simplified as conventional welding methods can now be employed.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2007Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Fluor Technologies CorporationInventors: Barry Messer, Shawn Seitz
