  • Patent number: 4050721
Abstract: A length of pipe conduit is provided for forming a joint arrangement on each end with adjacent lengths of like pipe or conduit. The length of pipe is formed of plastic with a structurally rigid wall having a middle portion presenting exterior circumferential reinforcing flanges at spaced intervals along the length of the pipe and longitudinal reinforcing ribs at spaced intervals about the exterior of the pipe. One end of the length of pipe has a round tubular wall presenting a sealing gasket and male section with thread rib segments. The other end of the length of pipe has a female section with thread groove segments for receiving and threadingly engaging the male section of a similar length of pipe. The thread rib and thread groove cross-section profiles are triangular.

  • Patent number: 4018461
Abstract: A male end is inserted in a socket with radial clearance. An annular elastically yieldable sealing element has an outer heel portion disposed in an inner groove in the socket. A single lip portion on the sealing element extends inwardly of the socket and has a radially inner end which grips the male end. The heel portion has, at rest, an axial dimension which is of the same order of magnitude as its radial dimension and exceeds the axial dimension of the groove. The axial dimension of the groove is greater than the greatest radial space between the male end and the edge of the groove adjacent the entrance of the socket.

  • Patent number: 4014568
Abstract: In a joint for pipe, a first sleeve surrounds and is bonded to the leading edge of a pipe section. A second sleeve, which acts as a male nut, is positioned on the pipe section rearward of the first sleeve, is externally threaded, and has an internal diameter greater than the diameter of the pipe section upon which it is mounted. An elastomeric spacer ring is positioned intermediate the two sleeves. A collar is bonded to and extends from an end of a second pipe section. The collar has an internally threaded portion adjacent its forward end for threaded engagement with the externally threaded second sleeve on the other pipe section, and has a second portion rearward of the threaded portion which is adapted to receive the first sleeve and spacer ring on the other pipe section. This second portion of the collar has an internal annular groove and a sealing ring in the groove for engagement by the first sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4003591
Abstract: Plastic socket of fibre reinforced thermosetting material comprising an inner push edge, a first recess at each end for positioning sealing means, which are held by means of a retaining ring which is accommodated in a second recess. The inner wall between the first recess and the push edge tapers outwardly.

  • Patent number: 3980311
Abstract: Vertically aligned manhole sections are assembled by setting one section upon the other whereby cooperating male and female ends are mated to form a watertight joint. The male and female ends are each provided with a diagonally aligned surface adjoining horizontally aligned load bearing surfaces. A shoulder is formed in the diagonally aligned surface of each male end to receive an annular D-shaped gasket mounted therein under tension. The gasket is compressed between the male and female diagonally aligned surfaces so that when one load bearing surface of the upper section is fully bottomed on the cooperating surface of the lower section, the gasket is fully compressed, with the weight of the upper sections serving to aid in compressing the gasket.

  • Patent number: 3973783
Abstract: This invention relates to a pipe joint sealing device. The device includes an annular resilient body of rubber which is generally V-shaped in cross-section which defines inner and outer annular flanges or body portions. This annular body or rubber ring is fitted into the opening of a rigid concrete structure, such as a manhole, in fluid-type engagement therewith. This engagement is interlocking which prevents the accidental dislodgement of the rubber ring from the opening, and is achieved b casting the concrete into lockingengagement with the outer peripheral surface of the ring, this ring being provided with an annular anchor portion which in cross-section is of keystone shape.

  • Patent number: 3963298
Abstract: The invention relates to a socket connection of tubes or tubular elements, in particular of metal, with a plug-in (male) end and a socket (female) end which accommodates the former with radial clearance and has a radially extending inside shoulder against which supports itself in axial direction a one-piece sealing and anti-thrust ring with a foot section and several retaining elements spaced in circumferential direction and engaging with an inside edge of the periphery of the plug-in end whose head portion, located inside axially, seals the annual space between the socket end and the plug-in end.

  • Patent number: 3952526
Abstract: A flexible supportive joint is provided between a buoyancy chamber of flotation means and a sub-sea well riser conduit upon which the flotation means is mounted. In a preferred exemplary embodiment, such flexible supportive joint comprises an assembly of coaxial, telescopically oriented pipe sections with a cylindrical elastomeric member bonded therebetween to flexibly join the two sections in load bearing relation, one section being connected to the riser conduit with the other section being connected to the flotation means buoyancy chamber. In a first alternative exemplary embodiment, the flexible supportive joint is provided by a ball and socket-like connection while in a second alternative construction, the flexible supportive joint is provided by a combination of an elastomeric member in load bearing relation with coaxial conduit sections and a ball and socket-like joint between the sections.
