  • Patent number: 5415435
Abstract: A pipe support clamp includes a pair of like outer hinged rigid metal wire rings spaced apart for mounting about the ends of two pipe sections to be joined together. The rings include two pivotable semicircular sections joined at the lower ends by a hinge. Inner semicircular rings are secured to the outer rings by radial spacers. The inner rings are adapted to fit closely about and hold the ends of the two pipe sections. A pair of turnbuckles at the other ends of the outer rings secure the pivotable semicircular sections together when the clamp is moved from an open to a closed position. A coupling device for permanently securing and sealing the pipe ends can then be mounted around the ends within the spaced apart rings. The support clamp is then removed.

  • Patent number: 5149144
Abstract: An improved pipe branch fitting for use with a pipe having a pre-cut hole is disclosed. The branch fitting has a cylindrical body freely slidable along the pipe to a point where the hole is pre-cut. On one side, the cylindrical body carries an internally threaded boss into which a modified sprinkler head may be threaded. A gasket positioned between the sprinkler head and the pipe gives the seal as the sprinkler head bears upon the gasket upon tightening of the sprinkler head. The inner end of the modified sprinkler head has a stepped shoulder which abuts the periphery of the hole in the pipe and limits compression applied to the gasket. A reduced diameter end portion of the modified sprinkler head locates itself in the hole and indicates if the fitting is misaligned with the hole. The end walls of the body are each tapered toward the boss to facilitate the sliding of the cylindrical body, when assembled on the pipe are supporting structures of a building in which the piping system is being installed.

  • Patent number: 5131687
Abstract: A disconnectable device for making a sealed connection quickly between a smooth and rigid tube and a flexible hose which is engaged over the rigid tube, the diameter of the tube being greater than the inside diameter of the hose. A rigid ring preferably made of metal or of a semi-rigid plastic, is disposed coaxially around the hose, the ring having an inside shoulder constituting an axial abutment for the outside surface of the hose, the abutment sufficing on its own, by virtue of the wall of the hose being pinched thereagainst, to urge together the sole pair of complementary sealing surfaces of the device, one on the tube and the other on the inside surface of the hose. Complementary axial fastening means are connected respectively to the ring and to the tube.

Abstract: A method of rendering an existing pipeline flexible, by cutting out an intermediate portion of a pipe in a ring form, inserting a pipe joint into a cutout position, and connecting the pipe joint to the pipe. The pipe joint used in this method includes a plurality of sleeves interconnected in a fluid-tight condition to be oscillatable relative to one another. The pipe joint is inserted into the cut-out position and connected to the pipe, with the plurality of sleeves substantially fixed to one another while being interconnected in the fluid-tight condition to be oscillatable relative to one another. The sleeves are thereafter released from the fixed state.

Abstract: A pipe joint comprises a cylindrical main body 1 with both ends open, at least one of which is to be a pipe insertion port 10, a slender slidable cylinder 2 coaxially installed in the main body 1 so as to slide therein freely to and fro in a certain range, its free end facing the pipe insertion port 10, and a holding cylinder 3 inserted between the main body 1 and the slidable cylinder 2 in a manner to move freely back and forth. The main body 1 has a taper 11 diminishing toward the pipe insertion port 10 on its inner circumference near the port 10. The holding cylinder 3 has a slit 30 open to the pipe insertion port 10 and its outside diameter is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the pipe insertion port 10. In a state where a pipe is forcibly fitted on the slidable cylinder 2 externally, the holding cylinder 3 moves toward the pipe insertion port 10 along with the pipe being pulled back.

  • Patent number: 5080400
Abstract: A hub clamp will be used to connect two conduits together in end-to-end relationship. Each conduit has a pair of generally parallel load shoulders that extend around the conduit and are axially spaced from each other. The clamp has two sets of load shoulders, one for engaging each set of load shoulders on each end of the conduit. The clamp is in two halves, and when bolted together, draws the ends of the conduits toward each other. Each load shoulder is separated by a flank. The two flanks of the mating load shoulders are separated by a gap when fully made up. The first load shoulder of each conduit has multiple angled sections. The lead section is at a greater angle than the load section relative to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the conduit. The clamp will be mounted releasably to an upper conduit so that it can slide inward and outward, for vertical conduit applications.

  • Patent number: 5066048
Abstract: An improved mechanism for connecting tubular members in a subsea well in which the members are locked together in a preloaded condition. In the preferred form of the invention the loading is provided by a series of fingers mounted on the inner tubular member and flexing through a restriction in the outer tubular member during landing and then springing back from such flexed position to engage and wedge against a tapered shoulder at the lower end of the restriction to both lock the inner tubular member in its seated position and also to provide the preloading desired. In a second form, the inner member is landed on a ring which is engaged on the outer tubular member landing seat and then further lowering of the inner member moves a wedge on the inner member to cause the upper end of the ring to engage the internal profile of the outer member and the lower end to engage a lower external profile on the inner member and to be wedged therein to create the lock down and the desired preload.
