    Abstract: An easily-assembled, heat resistant connector for releasably joining end portions of three capillary tubes for use in chromatography without interrupting flow or interfering with chromatographic results comprises a main body, and a glass insert which has first, second and third hollow legs that are connected together at a central portion, and a connector that connects each leg of the glass insert to a capillary tube. Each leg of the glass insert extends outwardly from the central portion towards an open end portion, and each leg has an inboard bore with a taper that receives and end portion of one of the capillary tubes. The taper is wider near the open end portion of the leg and narrower near the central portion. The connectors are mounted on the main body and a sealing ferrule is provided in each connector for making a seal between the capillary tubes and the legs of the glass insert.

    Abstract: A fitting used to bridge a gap in a conduit between fixed ends of a conduit. The fitting includes a first collar at a first end of the fitting having an open end made to a dimension for fitting closely around one of the ends of the conduit, and the first end being flared inwardly of the open end so the first end of the fitting can be slid over the first end of the conduit, whilst the fitting is held angled axially relative to the conduit such that the second end of the conduit is positioned to one side of the conduit. The first collar is sufficiently deep to allow for the fitting to be slid over the first end of the conduit until the second end of the fitting is clear of a second end of the conduit. The fitting can then be pivoted so as to be in line with the conduit, and then slid back to connect with the second end of the conduit.

    Abstract: A wall penetration sleeve for extending a conduit or pipe through a solid concrete, brick or other wall or connecting a first pipe provided on one side of the wall with a second pipe provided on the opposite side of the wall. The wall penetration sleeve is characterized by a cylindrical sleeve extending through the wall and internally threaded on each end to receive a corresponding pressure nut. Each pressure nut seals an o-ring or gasket in the corresponding end of the sleeve to form a moisture-tight seal between the sleeve interior and the interior of the wall such that liquid or gas cannot leak from the sleeve and accumulate in the interior of the wall as the liquid or gas flows through the pipe. An annular lock collar is either eccentrically mounted on the sleeve or includes a flat segment shaped in the collar edge to prevent the sleeve from rotating or moving transversely in the wall.

    Abstract: A cooperating combination of a metallic gland and a metallic grip ring is for both plastic pipe and metallic pipe used in fluid piping systems, where these pipes are part of assembled restrained sealed bolted joints. The grip ring, in addition to two well spaced major sized teeth, has several spaced minor sized pipe gripping circumferential teeth located between and beyond the major sized teeth. The major sized teeth extend radially inwardly farther than the minor sized teeth within the grip ring. When the installed grip ring is restraining a metallic pipe, only the major size teeth are, in part, penetrating the metallic pipe. When this installed grip ring is restraining a plastic pipe both the major size teeth and the minor size teeth are penetrating the plastic pipe. The major size teeth take a lot of concentrated force, which is created when the fasteners of the bolted joint are tightened.

The nut and the deformable ferrule are placed over the tube. The nut is wrenched onto the body, which deforms the ferrule at the ferrule groove displacing material of the ferrule inwardly against the tube, bringing the inner surface of the ferrule into sealing engagement with the outer surface of the tube and the inner surface of the tube with the outer reduced cylindrical surface of the body and at both faces of the ferrule. A seal is thus accomplished at the inside surface of the ferrule, forcing the tube into engagement with the reduced size member of the body, thereby reinforcing the tube.

The ferrule also has radially inwardly extending teeth that bite into the pipe to prevent the pipe from backing out. The ferrule also has an axially inner section 40 with notches 62 formed therein. The end 40 is deformed by a camming surface 28 on the body 12 to crimp the pipe 18 as the fastener member 14 is secured to the body member 12. The axially inner section 40 forms a right angled shoulder that abuts the pipe and prevents the pipe from being easily pulled out of the coupling.
