  • Patent number: 10208875
Abstract: A quick-connect plumbing device for exemplary use in connection of an appliance, such as a water heater, to supply line of a dwelling, among other uses. Preferably, the connection creates a dielectric coupling between the appliance and supply line to disconnect electrical communication between the supply line and appliance. The device typically includes a length of rigid conduit structured to form a sweat solder connection to a cooperating solderable plumbing element at a first end, and to form a threaded connection to a cooperating threaded plumbing element at an opposite second end, with a resilient seal element being carried at the second end. The threaded connection can be formed by an internally-threaded nut axially affixed to the conduit to permit nut rotation to axially compress the seal element between the conduit and the threaded plumbing element.

  • Patent number: 8602458
Abstract: A wellhead coupling and method for coupling and sealing an annulus formed between overlapping ends of an outer pipe and an inner pipe. A clamp housing grips the inner pipe, forms a horizontal landing base for the outer pipe, and forms circumferential ports aligned with the annulus. A seal ring and upper metal ring are located in the annulus, the seal ring being formed with ports to align with ports of the clamp housing, and the upper metal ring being formed with threaded holes to align with ports of the seal ring and the clamp housing. Threaded seal engaging members extend through the aligned ports for threaded connection in the threaded holes of the upper metal ring. A seal energizing member located within or below the clamp housing pulls downwardly on the threaded seal engaging members to energize the seal ring into sealing relationship in the annulus.

Abstract: An anti-expansion and anti-seismic pipe fitting. The pipe fitting includes a body into which end portions of plural pipes are inserted. The body has a receiving jaw formed on the inner circumferential surface of an end portion, into which each of the pipe is inserted such that an inner diameter of the body is enlarged. A packing is arranged on the receiving jaw. A cap is coupled to the end portion of the body such that the packing and the pressurizing member are mounted inside the cap. Buffering means are included for absorbing expansion and contraction of the pipe. The pipe fitting can absorb deformation due to the expansion or contraction of the pipes. Moreover, because all of the pipes and the pipe fitting have the same inner diameter, the fluid flowing inside the pipes maintains uniform pressure, and hence, the fluid can flow smoothly inside the pipes.

  • Patent number: 6209928
Abstract: A miniature connector for introducing microliter quantities of solutions into microfabricated fluidic devices. The fluidic connector, for example, joins standard high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) tubing to 1 mm diameter holes in silicon or glass, enabling ml-sized volumes of sample solutions to be merged with &mgr;l-sized devices. The connector has many features, including ease of connect and disconnect; a small footprint which enables numerous connectors to be located in a small area; low dead volume; helium leak-tight; and tubing does not twist during connection. Thus the connector enables easy and effective change of microfluidic devices and introduction of different solutions in the devices.

  • Patent number: 6168211
Abstract: A threaded connection for easily deformable thin-walled pipes (20) has a connecting member (1) with a cylindrical receiving bore (5) accommodating the pipe (20) and an outer thread (7). A nut (8) is provided with an inner thread (10) which is threaded onto the outer thread (7). The nut (8) has a through-bore (11) for the pipe (20) and a conical bore (13) which widens towards the connecting member (1). The pipe (20), at a distance from its end face (21), has a bulge (23) which is held in a clamped-in condition between the conical bore (13) and a conical supporting face (18) of a separate supporting ring (14). To limit the tightening movement, the supporting ring (14) has a stop face (19) against which the conical bore (13) comes to rest when the nut (8) is tightened. A holding face (17) on the supporting ring (14) is supported against the end face (3) of the connecting member (1).
