  • Patent number: 11890636
Abstract: A spray gun and a detachable liquid reservoir releasably attached to the spray gun by engagement of mateable, non-threaded formations provided on the spray gun and the reservoir. The spray gun has an integral connector boss with a socket for reception of a connector tube of the reservoir. The boss has an external flange at the distal end and the reservoir has hook members separate from the connector tube. The hook members are co-operable with the flange when the connector tube is received in the socket to secure releasably the reservoir to the spray gun. In another arrangement, the connector tube is an interference friction-fit in the socket to secure releasably the reservoir to the spray gun. In yet another arrangement, the connector tube has bayonet lugs co-operable with bayonet grooves in the wall of the socket when the connector tube is received in the socket to secure releasably the reservoir to the spray gun.

  • Patent number: 6488319
Abstract: A method and apparatus for restraining pipe against internal forces at a pipe or fitting connection and to join and seal at least two pipes to form a pipeline is shown featuring an improved self restrained pressure gasket. The pressure gasket has a rigid ring formed as an integral part of the gasket thus making the gasket easy to install. The rigid ring which forms the restraining mechanism has rows of teeth of varying lengths that, when assembled, engage at various points around the circumference of a mating pipe. The teeth adjust to the tolerances allowed in pipe manufacturing without losing gripping capacity.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing system for media-carrying parts, especially for use in asepsis, comprising a sealing ring (14), preferably a toroidal sealing ring, which is placed on a sealing seat for the purpose of sealing the parts. Said sealing seat is constituted by a sealing channel (22) that substantially surrounds the sealing ring. The sealing channel (22) is composed of sealing surfaces (21a, 21b) of both parts (12, 13) and defines between said parts and between said sealing surfaces a sealing groove (30) into which the sealing ring (14) is deformed when the parts are axially braced against each other until they come into contact. A separating joint (41) adjoins the sealing channel on a side facing away from the sealing groove (30). The sealing channel (22) has at least one expansion chamber (35, 57a, 57b) that deviates from the undeformed cross-section of the sealing ring. Said expansion chamber (35, 57a, 57b) is arranged substantially opposite the sealing groove (30).

  • Patent number: 6123363
Abstract: The assembly of a connection that uses cooperating grooved surfaces to provide an easily disassembled and assembled connection is improved by the use of a centered lip and cooperating groove on the contact faces of the connection halves that engage the faces of complementary connection ends to prevent lateral misalignment while the pipe ends are brought together for axial alignment. The lip extends into the groove to trap a gasket retained within the groove and inhibit extrusion of the gasket between the contact faces under high pressure conditions. The centering device may be used with a clamping mechanism to provide single person assembly of this type of connection despite normal field misalignments. The trapping cavity formed by the faces of the connection ends particularly enhances the pressure capacity of elastomeric gasket applications.

  • Patent number: 5997049
Abstract: A coupling system comprises a first coupling member having a tongue that projects axially a distance therefrom, and a second coupling member that is threadable attached to the first coupling member. The tongue is inserted within a groove disposed within a second coupling member body. The tongue is axially displaced within the groove by rotation of one of the first or second coupling member relative to the non-rotated coupling member to form a leak-tight seal therebetween. At least one of the first or second coupling member body includes a hollow passage that extends axially therethrough. An elastomeric member is disposed within the groove and is interposed between a base portion of the groove and an end portion of the tongue.

  • Patent number: 5957508
Abstract: A sealing device for a fluidtight screw connection. When screwing in a screw to be sealed into a fluid-carrying threaded bore of a component, in order to prevent a rectangular sealing ring from extending into a gap between a radial flange of the screw and the component as a result of tangential stress, the sealing device embodies a rectangular sealing ring having a thinner thickness than a countersink into which the sealing ring is inserted. A radial flange of the screw includes a collar that protrudes into the countersink and elastically compresses the rectangular sealing ring so that the sealing ring rests sealingly against a bottom of the countersink and against the collar of the screw.

  • Patent number: 5823579
Abstract: A pipe coupling device for holding a metal pipe having a selected diameter within a range of a nominal diameter plus or minus a specified tolerance is also useful for easily determining if any pipe is within specifications. A split metal ring having a diameter equal to the nominal diameter for the metal pipe and a transverse split having a width equal to the specified tolerance is placed around the pipe. A nut having a tapered cylindrical bore having diameter such that the diameter plus twice the thickness of the split metal ring equals the nominal diameter of the metal pipe plus the specified tolerance is fitted over the split metal ring. If the pipe is undersized it will slip through the split metal ring. If the pipe is oversized the nut will not fit completely over the metal ring surrounding the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5797603
Abstract: The present invention relates mainly to a sealing ring and to a method of mounting it in a groove. According to the present invention, the sealing ring is twisted before being mounted in the groove so that the reaction forces retain it therein. The retention capabilities of the present invention is improved for sealing rings of a section that includes a projection directed towards a wall of the groove that provides radial support. The present invention applies more particularly to the mechanical, motor vehicle, and aircraft industries. The sealing ring of the present invention can be used, in particular, in association with the manifolds of turbocompressors, and with air inlet and outlet manifolds, in particular those made of plastics materials, as used in the motor vehicle industry.

  • Patent number: 5775743
Abstract: An apparatus for fluidly coupling a flanged pipe (2) having an annular flange (4) to a threaded pipe (22) having an externally threaded end (20) with an annular lip is disclosed. An annular nut (8) has an internal thread (10) for engaging the threaded pipe. An internal diameter of the annular nut is larger than an external diameter of the flange of the flanged pipe. Thus, the annular nut can slide without deformation over the flange of the flanged pipe. The annular nut also acts as a retaining surface. An internal diameter of an annular insert (12) is smaller than the external diameter of the flange of the flanged pipe. Because of the difference in diameter, the annular insert cannot slide freely over the flange of the flange pipe. Additionally, the annular insert has a split (14) that allows the annular insert to reversibly expand to slip over the flange of the flanged pipe.

  • Patent number: 5597184
Abstract: A clamp for quick release of a generally rectangular bonnet to the flange of valve body is disclosed. The upper side of the edge of the rectangular bonnet is formed with a bevel of about 20 degrees and the lower side of the edge of the body flange is formed with a similar bevel. The clamp consists of semi-circular ends and straight sides hinged together. One side is split and connected by a toggle latch. In cross-section, each clamp section is generally C-shaped, with the top and bottom arms of the C being beveled so that as the clamp sections are drawn inward the bevels wedge the bonnet against the flange. Locating pins fitting into holes in the plate and flange locate the parts and resist implosion when the valve body is subjected to vacuum. To maintain uniform clamping force around the circumference of the bonnet the bevels at the middles of the sides may be less wide than at the ends.
