Abstract: A method of replacing an existing threaded coupler on an existing tubular fixture secured to a baghouse is provided to couple a pulse jet device to a blowpipe of the baghouse via the existing tubular fixture. The method includes the steps of disconnecting the blowpipe from the existing tubular fixture by removing the threaded coupler therefrom. The method further includes the steps of providing a spacer sleeve arranged co-axially within the existing tubular fixture, and providing a transfer tube arranged co-axially within the spacer sleeve. The method further includes the steps of coupling the transfer tube to the spacer sleeve, coupling the spacer sleeve to the existing tubular fixture, arranging the blowpipe within the spacer sleeve, providing a supply tube coupled to the pulse jet device, and coupling the supply tube to the transfer tube. In one example, the supply tube is flexible.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a pipe fitting for joining a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe to a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe. The fitting has a HDPE body. A ring-shaped PVC insert is positioned within an inner surface of the body at one opening of the body. An inner surface of the PVC insert is threaded so that a PVC pipe that has a threaded outer surface can be screwed into the PVC insert. A compression ring is installed over the outer surface of a portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert. Prior to installation, the inner diameter of the compression ring is smaller than the outer diameter of the portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert. For this reason, when the compression ring is installed, the compression ring compresses the portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert, holding the PVC insert within the body.

  • Patent number: 6764110
Abstract: This invention is a method and apparatus for making a pressure-containing threaded tubular connection, suitable for remotely operated connection and separation, utilizing electrical heating to reduce the amount of makeup torque required to produce reliable preloading of the connection. One aspect of the present invention comprises: 1) a first hub with male threads on its exterior and having a sealing face and axial flow passage, b) a second hub having an axial flow passage and carrying an annular seal which can be mated with the sealing face of the first hub and mounting a rotatable nut having female threads on its interior and integral nut heating means. After stabbing and initial make-up of the connection, the nut is heated and thereby expanded in a controlled manner and the connection retightened. Following cooling, the structural connection is fully preloaded and the annular seal fully compressed so that it seals. Reversing the procedure permits disconnection.

Abstract: A connection for the junction of two tubes, through which a fluid under pressure flows, comprises a female element and a male element. The male element is adapted to be fitted axially in the female element and secured to the female element via a primary attachment member. The male and female elements dispose respectively of a female duct and a male duct, each of them opening on either side of the element in which it is located. Each of these ducts also comprises a first as well as a second extremity, these first extremities of the female duct and the male duct opening respectively on the flat surface of the female element and on the flat surface of the male element. The connection is manufactured in such a way that the flat surface of the female element and the flat surface of the male element are in flat contact.

  • Patent number: 6604762
Abstract: A hydraulic coupling that is used for connecting hydraulic tubular lines includes a male plug which will mate with a standard tube end flare. The male plug has a rounded end that will provide for a line contact with the interior surface of the standard flare. The rounded end of the plug is joined to the main portion of the male plug body through a wall that is controlled in cross-sectional size so that the outer end will deflect as the male plug is tightened into place. This will provide a resilient loading along a line of contact to insure that the seal is maintained even if there is slight axial movement between the flare and the male plug.

  • Patent number: 6435570
Abstract: A resin pipe joint comprising a tapered flare portion (10a) formed on a pipe (10), an inclined portion (11a) formed internally of a joint body (11), an annular member (12) having inner peripheral surface fitted on the pipe (10) and the outer peripheral surface inserted in the joint body and formed at the end with a tapered chamfered portion (12a), and a pipe clamping member (13) threadedly fitted to the joint body (11). The pipe clamping member (13) being threadedly fitted to the joint body causes the chamfered portion (12a) of the annular member to pressure-contact the flare portion (10a) of the pipe and the flare portion of the pipe to pressure-contact the inclined portion in the interior of the joint body, whereby the clamping force can be concentrated on the flare portion of the pipe, so that a high sealing capability between the pipe and the joint body is obtained.
