Bayonet Slot Patents (Class 285/402)
  • Patent number: 5257653
Abstract: The invention is directed to a safety release disconnection for a fluid conduit. The connection includes a pin and a U-shaped slot with an ejector spring adjustably biased by a loading nut. Check valves are provided in both connection elements and are opened by contact or interfacing of the valves. A rigid moment arm points in a direction perpendicular to the direction that a vehicle pulls away from the filling stand. A pull away while the system is connected to the vehicle will trigger the safety release disconnection.

  • Patent number: 5249958
Abstract: The burner construction having a bottom pan and a cover is divided into two sections which are independently active when a gas fuel is supplied by independent venturi tubes. The tubes and bottom pans are formed with cam-locking elements which require a twisting motion in the receiving apertures in which the twisting of the tubes engages the cam-locking elements which pulls a shoulder on the tubes into a tight sealing contact against the pan thereby avoiding the need for tools or the use of gasket materials to form the seal.

  • Patent number: 4900514
Abstract: A mouthpiece system for deterring evasion of an alcohol breath test particularly a test wherein a breath sample is delivered without human supervision. The system includes a mouthpiece configured so as to render difficult the delivery of artificial breath samples through the use of hoses, balloons and the like. The mouthpiece has an oversize upper surface which includes a tapered lip around the mouthpiece inlet to receive the mouth of the user. The lip is surrounded by a wide apertured ring which, together with the lip, will not readily form an effective connection with a balloon or hose. An electrode on the mouthpiece is used for sensing and/or signalling the user. The impedance in contact with the electrode is sensed during testing to insure it falls within a range expected for a human user to deter use of evasion using filters or bogus gas delivery devices. Continuity of the impedance during testing is monitored to detect attempts to pass the mouthpiece to an accomplice.

  • Patent number: 4854349
Abstract: A sewage draining device having a drain coupling, an independently suspended tubular housing, a flexible, extendable drain hose and a dual closure cap. In storage, the hose is fully retracted within the housing with the dual closure cap closing both the hose and the housing. For drainage, the dual closure cap is disengaged from the housing and the cap/hose combination may then be extended from the housing to a sewage receiving tank. The dual closure cap is then removed from the hose for drainage. The drain coupling and the housing, while connected to each other to complete the closure of the hose in storage, are independently suspended from the vehicle, whereby the device will withstand transportation without incurring damage or causing damage to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4477109
Abstract: A connector for coupling a hose to a faucet or the like includes two molded plastic members which are coupled together by a bayonet-type connection. One member carries a resilient seal which has an annular lip inclined radially inwardly and axially toward an axially facing annular sealing surface on the other member. When the members are coupled, the lip flattens against the sealing surface to form a seal between the members and, in this condition of the parts, the resiliency of the lip also produces a force which keeps the bayonet-type connection in the locked position. When the members are being coupled while water is running through the member with the seal, an annular groove in the sealing surface causes water to backwash and clean the sealing side of the lip as well as the sealing surface itself.
