  • Patent number: 4967460
Abstract: A tool for the extraction of bushings, bearings or other similar objects pressed into blind holes. The preferred embodiment of the invention consists of a cylinder tube 1, with a blind head 2 attached, and sealed by blind head seal 5. The piston 3 is joined to the rod 4 which travels through the rod hole 12 and is sealed by the piston seal 6 in the inner diameter of cylinder tube 1.The blind hole bushing and bearing remover is used by installing the appropriate nose piece (ball type, bushing/bearing removal nose piece 8; or self-threading, tapered type, bushing/bearing removal nose piece 17) into the bushing or bearing to be removed. Pushing media (grease) is introduced under pressure, and travels through check valve (grease fitting) receptacle and linear hole 7, thus moving piston 3, and extending rod 4 through the appropriate nose piece.

Abstract: An extractor for removing worm elements which are fastened for rotation on the worm shaft of a worm extruder wherein a frame formed of longitudinal and cross members has a locking device in one of the cross members for holding the worm elements and an opposed, displaceable, pneumatic piston-cylinder unit on another cross member. The piston-cylinder unit has a pressure piston which is extendable axially towards the worm shaft. Between the worm shaft and the piston-cylinder unit is a slide which is displaceable longitudinally and can be engaged by the piston of the piston-cylinder unit. The slide carries an impact device which is pneumatically actuatable and includes an impact shaft for engaging the worm shaft. The locking device includes two clamp jaws which are axially aligned with the impact shaft and the piston and engage the worm profile with an inner profile surface of identical type.

  • Patent number: 4728217
Abstract: A gripper with leaf springs having fingers near their ends to engage and disengage work. The springs are respectively connected in an annular array to the end of a cylindrical support. The springs are diverged or expanded to cause the fingers to engage the work and are converged or collapsed to cause the fingers to disengage the work. During the diverging and the converging each spring is pivoted about its junction with the support. The diverging and the converging of the springs is effected by an actuator or mandrel including a rod having a nose at its outer end. The actuator is reciprocable within the springs between advanced and retracted positions. Near its outer end the rod has a conical cam surface which engages cooperative internal cam-follower surfaces on the springs to diverge the springs when the actuator is in advanced position. The nose has a skirt which engages the outer ends of the springs, i.e. the fingers, to converge the springs near the ends when the actuator is in retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4719685
Abstract: A jack device employed to extract agitators from the drive shafts of washing machines. The device includes an annular split ring member having two closed ends and enclosed chamber therein. The enclosed bladder device expands into a split toroidal configuration. A tube attached at the periphery and extending from under the agitator to the outside tub is employed to transfer hydraulic or pneumatic pressure into the said device resulting in expansion of the same. The wall of the bladder is thicker in a zone around the periphery than elsewhere. This thicker zone prevents the device from ballooning out from under the agitator which would result in failure of successfully removing the agitator from the shaft.

Abstract: An apparatus for unseating wire rope wedges is accomplished by means of a linear motor such as a hydraulic jack mechanism. The hydraulic jack includes a housing structure adapted to be seated about a portion of a wire line connector device in such manner that a force transmitting retained relationship is established between the housing and the wire rope connector. A linear actuator within the housing is energized against the small end of a wire rope wedge and accomplishes movement of the wedge to its unseated position to release wire rope secured thereby.

  • Patent number: 4707900
Abstract: A cylinder liner sleeve puller has four legs having flanged feet at their bottom and being connected by four pivotably mounted pivot arms. The arms are pivotably connected to a central hub, which arrangement forces the lower ends of the legs outward when the hub is manually moved downward. In operation, the legs are inserted into the cylinder so that their bottom extremities are below the lower end of the liner sleeve. The hub is then pressed downward, forcing the lower ends of the legs outward until the flanged feet are directly below the liner sleeve. A jack support plate having spaced holes for the legs is then passed over the legs and rests on the engine block. A hydraulic jack is placed on the support plate, and a top plate is fastened to the top of the legs. When the jack is activated, the plunger pushes the top plate upward, causing a corresponding upward movement of the legs, thereby removing the liner sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4704780
Abstract: An apparatus and method for replacing trunnion bracket spindles is disclosed. The preferred apparatus comprises a first plate and a second plate, threaded rods extending between the plates, and wing nuts on the ends of the rods to prevent the plates from spreading apart during use. The first plate includes a ram mounting pin to which a hydraulic ram is secured. The hydraulic ram is used to force the old spindle from the bracket bores and to force the new spindle through the bores. Also, the preferred apparatus includes scissor jacks to help position the second plate and ram with respect to the trunk suspension. The apparatus of the present invention is used by cutting out a center section of the trunnion spindle, forcing the remaining sections of the trunnion spindle from their respective bracket bores, and forcing a new trunnion spindle through the brackets bores.
