Patent number: 4830089Abstract: A pair of guide pins are mounted on sideplate extensions of the caster and mating roller pairs are mounted on the nozzle assembly. The nozzle is advanced toward the caster so that the roller pairs engage the guide pins. Both guide pins are remotely adjustable in the vertical direction by hydraulic cylinders acting through eccentrics. This moves the nozzle vertically. The guide pin on the inboard side of the caster is similarly horizontally adjustable. The nozzle roller pair which engage the inboard guide pin are flanged so that the nozzle moves horizontally with the inboard guide pin.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1988Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Assignees: Hazelett Strip-Casting Corporation, USX CorporationInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 4397094Abstract: A process and an apparatus for accurately locating and aligning dies on base plates is disclosed. The alignment of the dies is made by assembling a pair of the base plates in the form of a die set using jigs to be inserted into openings of the respective base plates for accurately aligning the base plate in vertically parallel relationship keeping space therebetween and for permitting the upper base plate to effect vertically reciprocal movement to accurately locate and align the dies with respect to the base plates. The apparatus comprises a pair of base plates and jigs for accurately aligning the base plates in vertically parallel relationship and for permitting the upper base plate to effect vertically reciprocal movement along the jigs to accurately locate and align the dies with respect to the base plates.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1980Date of Patent: August 9, 1983Assignee: Futaba Denshi Kogyo K.K.Inventor: Iwao Nakamura

Patent number: 4345149Abstract: The mounting member portion carrying the light source in an optical encoder assembly is properly centered on a motor casing with respect to the motor shaft by a centering fixture in the form of a disc-shaped element. This disc-shaped element has a central bore of diameter corresponding to the diameter of the motor shaft and an annular peripheral downwardly depending lip at a precise radial distance from the geometrical center of its bore. This radial distance corresponds precisely to the radial distance between the geometrical center of the mounting member and its circular periphery such that the disc-shaped element can overlie the mounting member with its lip engaged about the circular periphery of the mounting member and its central bore receiving the motor shaft. The geometry is such that the mounting member is necessarily held in a precise concentric relationship with respect to the motor shaft by means of the centering fixture in the form of the disc-shaped element.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Inventor: Anton J. Patent number: 4343992Abstract: A V-shaped element has a central bore at its vertex of diameter corresponding to the diameter of the motor shaft upon which an optical encoder assembly is to be mounted. The arms of the V-shape extend radially at 90.degree. to each other from the center of the bore at the vertex and terminate in engaging stops at precise equal radial distances from the center of the bore at the vertex. This radial distance corresponds precisely to the radius of the outside diameter of the circular periphery of the mounting member portion of the encoder assembly carrying the light source for the optical encoder. Exact concentric centering of the mounting member carrying the light source is maintained by the V-shaped element by engagement of the ends of the arms with the circular periphery of the mounting member while the motor shaft is received in the central bore so that the mounting member can be rigidly secured to the motor.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1980Date of Patent: August 10, 1982Inventor: Anton J. Patent number: 4309123Abstract: Set out herein is a fastener assembly which, together with a fastening tool may be used to align and secure structural members to each other, the structural members having misaligned securing apertures. Particularly, this invention relates to a device consisting of two eccentric bushings nested and swaged together while still permitting their relative rotation, and a special tool used for their installation. The present invention also relates to the use of the nested eccentric bushings with multiple threaded fasteners and nuts, and spiral cam ended pins with spring retainers to achieve a quick-release attachment. In addition, this invention relates to the retention of the fastener members in the nested bushing assembly and the retention of the bushing assembly in the access panel when the panel is removed. The present invention relates to the use of the nested eccentric bushings in conjunction with standard round shank screws, bolts, platenuts, nuts, washers and other fastener hardware.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1979Date of Patent: January 5, 1982Assignee: Rajac CorporationInventor: Raymond J. Patent number: 4295276Abstract: A pair of members (16,20) are aligned in concentric relationship by engaging a template (26) between the members (16,20) to indicate the degree of eccentricity therebetween and by moving one (16) of the members into concentric relationship relative to the other member (20), as indicated by the template (26). The template (26) is circular and has a radial piloting slot (32) formed therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1978Date of Patent: October 20, 1981Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: Rayburn P. Patent number: 4272875Abstract: A device for use in casting concrete piles in a mold consisting of a bottom section and two side walls. The piles are formed with lengthwise reinforcement rods, on the ends of which are attached interconnecting members passing through the end fittings of the pile. The device is characterized by an alignment member arranged to be positioned in the mold. Abutment faces on the alignment member are arranged in engagement with the side walls and the bottom section of the mold at right angles to the longitudinal extension thereof. The alignment member is provided with shoulders forming points of abutment for engagement with the ends of the interconnecting members. A pulling means is arranged to engage in the center of said end fitting members and with the aid of a support means provided in said alignment member to urge the ends of the interconnecting members into abutment against the shoulders of the alignment member, when said tightening means is tightened.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1979Date of Patent: June 16, 1981Inventor: Frank O. Patent number: 4266329Abstract: Apparatus for positioning a workpiece, such as a piston ring, which has an out-of-round inner circumferential face with a radially inwardly directed portion that deviates from the out-of-round contour. The apparatus includes first and second spaced cylindrical rollers each having a diameter which is substantially less than the diameter of the workpiece. Means are provided for rotating the rollers in the same direction about their respective longitudinal axes. Braking means, which is interposed between the rollers and may be in the form of a brake shoe, has a frontal face positioned with respect to the peripheral surfaces of the rollers so that the frontal face contacts only the portion of the inner circumferential face of the workpiece which deviates from the out-of-round contour.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1979Date of Patent: May 12, 1981Assignee: Goetze AGInventors: Otto Feller, Alois Skrobek, Wilfried Schmitz
