Tube With Tube Patents (Class 29/272)
  • Patent number: 4835851
Abstract: A clamp is provided for securely aligning opposed longitudinal halves of a pipe. The clamp comprises a support having a recess therein for receiving a portion of the pipe. First and second levers are pivotably mounted to the supports on generally opposite sides of the recess therein Each lever includes opposed gripping and actuating ends. A piston and cylinder assembly extends between and is pivotally connected to the actuating ends of the first and second levers. As a result, the movement of the piston relative to the cylinder causes the sequential rotation of the first and second levers about their respective pivotable mountings to the support, to securely urge the gripping ends thereof into contact with the pipe mounted in the recess of the support.

  • Patent number: 4763395
Abstract: A tool and a method for loading pins into pin holes in the bore of the cylinder of a tumbler lock is disclosed. The tool is an elongated rod with two rod sections, a loading section and a handle section having a greater circumference than the rod section to form a shoulder. A contiguous groove runs lengthwise through both rod sections and includes perpendicular pin holes in the loading section. A tapered blade is provided to slide in the groove. In use, the pins are loaded into predetermined pin holes in the loading section. The loading section is inserted into the cylinder bore until the shoulder of the handle section prevents further forward motion and aligns the rod pin holes with matching pin holes in the cylinder. The blade is pushed towards the cylinder and urges the pins from the rod holes into the cylinder pin holes. With the blade holding the pins in the cylinder pin holes, the rod is turned so that the pins are now held in place by the rod itself.

  • Patent number: 4476618
Abstract: An implement for setting individual conduit units in end-to-end stacking relation. First and second members are resiliently biased in spaced relation to each other. Cleats extend from the spaced members for supporting an end of a conduit unit. A toggle extends between the spaced members with its arm pivotally joined to those members at one end and to a common knee at their other end. In a preferred embodiment, the toggle is an over-center device having a stop with the cleats being spaced from each other sufficiently to engage an end of a conduit unit when the toggle is in the over-center position. Flexing of the toggle from the over-center position results in a withdrawal of the cleats from the conduit unit end. Positive release of the cleats from the conduit unit end is assured by members extending from each of the spaced members toward the other of the spaced members to engage a conduit unit supported by the cleats during flexing of the toggle.

  • Patent number: 4415304
Abstract: A heavy and elongate recumbent load, such as a missile, is floatingly supported by two pairs of hydraulic pistons engaging it forwardly and rearwardly of its center of gravity, the pistons of each pair being oppositely inclined at 45.degree. to the horizontal. Each piston is part of a single-acting jack whose cylinder has its bottom end connected via a pair of antiparallel check valves to a source of hydraulic fluid, such as a pump in parallel with an accumulator, whose pressure substantially balances the component of the load bearing upon the respective piston. Each check valve has a bising spring so adjusted that it allows the valve to open in response to a manual force applied to the load near the point of attack of the associated piston whereby the load can be reoriented by hand, e.g. for alignment with a launching tube into which a missile is to be inserted with the aid of a carriage equipped with the four hydraulic jacks.

  • Patent number: 4345464
Abstract: A camming device for centering a meter or other instrument having a cylindrical body with respect to the upstream and downstream pipes of a flow line in which the meter is interposed. Each pipe is provided with an end flange having a circle of bolt holes, the pipe flanges being bridged by clamping bolts which pass through the holes to encage and compress the meter, the holes having clearances allowing limited bolt play. Rotatably mounted on the meter body is a camming device provided with a symmetrical array of camming edges that tangentially engage the bolts. When the device is turned on the meter body, it acts to force the bolts to their extreme hole positions, as a result of which the meter body is caused to assume a position concentric with the bolt circle that is centered with respect to the pipes.

  • Patent number: 4108346
Abstract: An alignment clamp is disclosed for uses such as welding adjacent plates. The clamp utilizes a strap which passes through a gap between the adjacent plates. The strap is attached at one end by a plate like clamp member which is to be located on one side of the welded plates. The strap connects to a clamp member on the opposite side. The second clamp member is located above the plate to be clamped. It is on freely movable guide posts spaced apart from a bearing plate. A tapered wedge is driven between the second clamp member and the bearing plate. The tapered wedge separates the two and pulls the strap taut. When it is taut, it levels and temporarily connects the adjacent plates held by the clamp to permit welding in the gap between the adjacent plates, and is thereafter disassembled to enable the removal of the clamp to close the gap by welding.
