A plunger is reciprocally operative in the nose piece to crimp the ferrule onto the cable, cut the excess cable and eject the device from the crimped ferrule-cable assembly. The Plunger is actuated either manually or by means of an attached power assisted tool. The elongated nose piece is removable so it can be interfaced with different tool bodies.

The fixed assembly can be released from the reactor tube and the reactor installation tool can be removed from the reactor tube.

    Abstract: Apparatus to connect a flexible tube to a spigot on bio-disposable systems. The apparatus comprises a support for a spigot and jaws for gripping and holding a flexible tube. The jaws open and close for insertion of the flexible tube either under manual or pneumatic force. The jaws also include a front section that is openable against a resistance. In use, the end of the spigot is place inside the end of the flexible tube, the spigot is then positioned on the support, and the tube clamped into the jaws. Either on manual or pneumatic action, the spigot is advanced into the flexible tube within the jaws. The front section of the jaw opening slightly to accommodate the spigot, while the back section of the jaw holds the tube firmly in position.

The method includes placing a crimp ring around the lateral, the crimp ring being large enough to encircle a bulge in the lateral created by insertion of the barbed neck into the end of the lateral. The crimp ring is positioned over the bulge and compressed to sheath and reinforce the bulge. The compression imparts a longitudinally convex profile upon the crimp ring, reducing its inner and outer diameters without increasing its length. This compression may cause projections, made of material from the crimp ring, to form on the outer surface of the crimp ring. A kit includes a crimp tool having a crimp die shaped to impart the longitudinally convex shape upon the crimp ring.

    Abstract: A stop collar is assembled using a method including the steps of receiving a bore of a base having a set of fingers extending along an exterior of a tubular, receiving a bore of a sleeve onto the tubular adjacent the set of fingers, and receiving the sleeve onto the set of fingers in an interference-fit. In alternate embodiments, the base comprises a plurality of angularly distributed fingers and/or the base comprises a gap to permit conformance of the base to the tubular. A fingerless base may cooperate with one or more separate fingers to form a base. In an embodiment of the method, the sleeve may be thermally expanded prior to the step of receiving the sleeve onto the set of fingers. The sleeve may be heated to expand the bore prior to being received onto the set of fingers.
