Abstract: Disclosed herein in example embodiments is a quick fitting mechanism for stopping oil flow from a well head flange. Example embodiments of systems and methods of capping an underwater pipe disclosed herein may be used to fit a housing over an open pipe, the open pipe having a flange at the opening. In example embodiments of this system, the damaged pipe is cut at a location just above a flange in the pipe such that one or more latches in the housing are moved over and secured to the flange, securing the housing to the flange. Example embodiments include hydraulics to move a ram pipe through the housing to abut the opening of the pipe, thereby sealing the pipe when the hydraulics are engaged. A fastening means is also included to secure the ram seal down onto the housing thereby sealing off the pipe without the need for hydraulics or the like to remain engaged.

  • Patent number: 8163001
Abstract: An apparatus for loading an expandable intraluminal medical device into a delivery device has a flexible main body with first and second rolled ends that enable the main body to alternatively adopt a substantially flat configuration that exposes a portion of the inner surface and a helical configuration that defines an interior chamber adapted to receive said expandable intraluminal medical device. An expandable intraluminal medical device is prepared for loading into a delivery device by placing the device on the main body of the loading apparatus while in the substantially flat configuration and then transforming the main body into the helical configuration. The medical device can then be compressed and forced out of the loading apparatus—and into a delivery device—by applying rotational and translational force to one end of the loading apparatus. Related kits and methods are also described.

  • Patent number: 8141226
Abstract: A method of sheathing a stent including the steps of providing a stent assembly including a catheter member and a stent member disposed about the catheter member; placing a first sheath film adjacent one side of the stent assembly; placing a second sheath film adjacent an opposite side of the stent assembly, and compressing the stent assembly, whereby the first and second sheath films move toward each other and substantially surround the stent assembly. The first and second sheath films are provided in rolls. Compressing is implemented by a radial compression mechanism. The first and second sheath films pass through the radial compression mechanism. Compressing sheaths the stent assembly and crimps the stent onto the catheter. As an alternative to two sheath films, a single film may be used, whereby compressing surrounds the stent assembly with the single sheath film.

Abstract: A device for mounting of a plumbing fixture such as a faucet or the like through a hole in a counter, a sink or the like and connection of the fixture to a supply line. A collar member of the device is slidingly retained on an inlet tube of the fixture by a connecting nut of the supply line. A rod, guided in its axial movement by a guide member that is connected to the collar member, has a flag member that is rotatable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the stowed position, the device may be passed through the hole when connected to the plumbing fixture and the supply line. In the deployed position, the flag member increases the axial profile of the device and co-acts with the body of the plumbing fixture in retaining the plumbing fixture in the hole.

  • Patent number: 7591055
Abstract: A preassembled mechanical pipe coupling for joining pipe elements in end-to-end relationship is disclosed. The coupling is formed from a plurality of interconnectable segments that are initially maintained in spaced apart relation. The segments have arcuate surfaces that project inwardly. Connection members in the form of lugs and fasteners are mounted on the segments. The connection members are adjustably tightenable for drawing the coupling segments together and forcing the arcuate surfaces into engagement with the outer surfaces of the pipe elements. Notches are formed at ends of the arcuate surfaces to provide clearance allowing the pipe elements to be inserted between the segments when they are in the pre-assembled, spaced apart configuration.

  • Patent number: 7469456
Abstract: A tool and method for installing an expansion bolt in a remote location where the expansion bolt is not readily accessible. The tool is comprised of a housing having a rod with a puller element on one end slidably mounted in the housing. A barrel is attached to and extends from the front of the housing. The headless screw of an expansion bolt is loosely threaded into the puller element and the barrel of the tool and the bolt are lowered until the expandable anchor on the screw is in or below a hole in a remote support structure. A ratchet in the housing moves the puller within the housing to pull the screw upward while the lower end of the barrel abuts and holds the flange on the anchor portion against the support structure to set the expandable anchor.

In one embodiment the tap is provided with a tap body having an integral stabilizing flange. By the use of a force providing device the stabilizing flange is forced in a direction away from the pipeline flange thereby reducing the load on the threads on the threaded end of the tap. A combination of a stabilizing nut and stabilizer base can be used to provide the force.
