Patent number: 8479379Abstract: Roots-type blowers with helical cycloidal rotors exhibit variation in leakback flow with angular position intrinsic to these rotor geometries. Calibration of individual blowers using a combination of high-resolution alignment and enhanced detection of residual noise phenomena permits noise in as-produced blowers to be significantly attenuated. Intrinsic lower limits of noise induced by leakback variation are associated with manufacturing tolerances, necessary clearances, and particular geometric considerations. Gross alignment errors (excluding contact between rotors) produce a characteristic noise pulse rate that is three times the shaft rate. Proper alignment suppresses this and reveals a pulse sequence at double this rate and at about half of the amplitude of faulty alignment. The novel process explains the error mechanisms and defines repeatable calibration methods for a mass-production environment, introducing appropriate gauges and methods for the task.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2008Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: CareFusion 202, Inc.Inventors: Todd W. Patent number: 8291588Abstract: A method of manufacturing and controlling a butterfly valve for an internal combustion engine; the manufacturing and control method includes the steps of: establishing a maximum gaseous flow rate value which may flow through the feeding pipe when the butterfly plate is in the closing position; determining a conventional closing position at which the gaseous flow rate which flows through the feeding pipe is essentially equal to the maximum gaseous flow rate value; driving an actuator device so as not to normally pass the conventional closing position; and dimensioning the position of a catch element, so that when a rotational shaft abuts against the catch element the gaseous flow rate which flows through the feeding pipe is essentially lower than the maximum gaseous flow rate value.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2008Date of Patent: October 23, 2012Assignee: Magneti Marelli Powertrain S.p.A.Inventors: Marcello Sciuto, Gabriele Giuliani, Mario Marconi, Alessandro Peciarolo

Patent number: 8291566Abstract: According to a work mounting method by the work transfer apparatus of the prior art, a glass plate or a work may fail to abut against a window frame homogeneously at its peripheral edge portion, and the adhesion strength or the sealing property between the glass plate and the window frame may not be retained all over the periphery of the adhered portion. Provided is a work transfer apparatus, which grips a rear glass by its gripping member and mounts the rear glass while pushing the gripped rear glass onto the window frame of a car body by the action of a supporting arm. The work transfer apparatus comprises a control device, and each of absorption pads of the gripping member includes a force detecting sensor for detecting the force to be applied to the absorption pads.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2008Date of Patent: October 23, 2012Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shozo Ushio, Hideyuki Murayama, Masafumi Uchihara

Publication number: 20120246900Abstract: A mounting system having a base plate, multiple mounting apertures adapted to releasably hold a man-portable equipment item, and non-invasive fasteners for attaching to a structure without damaging the structure. The non-invasive fasteners can include adhesive bonded fasteners which couple to a structure without damaging the structure and permit attachment and removal of the mounting system. The base plate and mounting apertures are designed to minimize mounting footprint and orient the man-portable equipment item in relation to a user structure or aperture such as a turret, egress point, portal, or other structure which requires a user to pass through a structure and have immediate access to the man-portable equipment item.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2011Publication date: October 4, 2012Inventors: Jeffrey T. Patent number: 8234769Abstract: The invention relates to a device for mounting a needle guard onto a syringe body that is provided with a needle. The device includes a retaining device for retaining the syringe body, a needle guard receptacle for receiving the needle guard, a compressed air system for providing compressed air, a first displacement device for displacing the needle guard receptacle in a vertical direction, and a rotation device for at least partially rotating the needle guard receptacle. The needle guard receptacle is disposed beneath the retaining device while the compressed air is fed to the needle guard receptacle such that the needle guard is suspended on an air cushion in a floating manner. The needle guard receptacle can be displaced in a vertical direction by the first displacement device. The invention further relates to a method for mounting the needle guard onto the syringe body.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2007Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Juergen Leidig

Patent number: 8201312Abstract: A working equipment comprising an external working head and an internal working head both arranged for applying a thrust on a structure having a wall. The wall comprises an external side and an internal side opposite to said external side. The thrust is opposite to the thrust applied to a same part by the other of the internal and external working head. The external working head is provided with a pressure device comprising a slide which holds a piston head comprising a supporting plate, an intermediate plate and a fixed base. The supporting plate is attached to the intermediate plate and the intermediate plate is attached to the fixed base. The supporting plate has a tool passage opening. The suction chamber is arranged inside the intermediate plate and inside the fixed base.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2007Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: Bisiach & Carru S.p.A.Inventor: Bruno Bisiach

Patent number: 8191221Abstract: A method for evaluating local buckling performance of a steel pipe includes obtaining a stress-strain relationship of a material having a yield plateau in the stress-strain relationship; determining the comparison of a starting strain of strain-hardening in the stress-strain relationship obtained and a critical strain of the steel pipe; and evaluating that the steel pipe has a possibility of being applied to a structure that requires plastic design when the critical strain is determined to be larger than the starting strain and evaluating that the steel pipe has no possibility of being applied to a structure that requires plastic design when the critical strain is determined to be not larger than the starting strain.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2005Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: JFE Steel CorporationInventors: Nobuhisa Suzuki, Katsumi Masamura

Patent number: 8082647Abstract: Force data is monitored by a strain gauge during a preparatory setup operation of an insertion process during which a sample fastener is installed into a host material by a fastener press. Mathematical algorithms are utilized to determine an optimal insertion force, while a predetermined insertion velocity is maintained throughout the installation process regardless of the force required. With the ram velocity held constant, the insertion force is measured during the installation process and compared to the elapsed time to obtain a force slope. A data point on the force slope which corresponds to the point at which the force slope abruptly increases is captured and recorded as the optimal insertion force. This optimal force is then used by the press for all fasteners/host-material installations of the sample type.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2008Date of Patent: December 27, 2011Assignee: PEM Management, Inc.Inventor: Roger B.
