  • Patent number: 9925069
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for utilizing a series of images of a patient's anatomy to determine a cut plane for use during a hip replacement procedure. To determine a cut plane for use during the procedure, the computer program determines a best fit line through the center of the neck of the femur, as well as a best fit line through the femoral shaft. In one particular embodiment, a cut plane through the femur may then be determined as perpendicular to the center line through the neck of the femur. Further, the location of these features in the images may be determined by analyzing the gray scale value of one or more pixels around a selected point on the image. The pixel with the lowest gray scale value may then be assumed to be the edge of the cortical bone in the 2D image.

According to a cancer cell-trapping metal filter 1, openings of connected through-holes 12 that are formed in a metal sheet 11 have a wave shape, and thus it is possible to extract a CTC from other components by utilizing a hole diameter on a short-side side of the openings, and it is possible to make the connected through-holes be closer to each other due to the wave shape while maintaining a CTC trapping ability. Accordingly, it is possible to further improve the opening ratio in the cancer cell-trapping metal filter 1.

Abstract: A fixed-cutter earth-boring tool includes a first blade substantially comprising a first material having a first elastic modulus at a temperature, and a second blade substantially comprising a second material having a second elastic modulus at the temperature. The second elastic modulus is different from the first elastic modulus. A method of forming an earth-boring tool includes forming a bit body having a plurality of blades, and providing at least one cutting element on at least one of the plurality of blades. Some fixed-cutter earth-boring drill bits include a first blade exhibiting a first deflection when subjected to a load, and a second blade exhibiting a second deflection when subjected to the load. The first deflection may be a continuous function of the load, and the second deflection may be a discontinuous function of the load.

Abstract: A mechanism or apparatus enables stowing a hinged surface chock at a stowage position near a deployment position. Said stowage and deployment positions separated by a gap between a first hinged surface and a second hinged surface, where said hinged surfaces are attached by at least one hinge. The apparatus enables the transition of said chock through said gap when one of said hinged surfaces is sufficiently open. Said apparatus will enable stowing said chock by holding said chock at the side of the gap where said chock does not obstruct the closing path of either hinged surface and said apparatus will enable deploying said chock by holding said chock where, at least partially, said chock obstructs the closing path of at least one of said hinged surfaces. Said apparatus may further enable arranging said chock at a wider angle at the deployed position.

Abstract: The socket system includes a socket and a vacuum liner. A one-way valve is positioned within the closed distal end of the socket and provides controlled fluid communication between the interior socket space and an external environment. The closed distal end of the vacuum liner includes a distal portion formed of a higher durometer elastomeric material than the surrounding portions of the liner, and including a concave section extending from an external surface thereof towards the interior liner space. The socket, on the interior of the closed distal end thereof, includes a receiving portion that corresponds to and receives the distal portion of the vacuum liner (e.g. matching the perimeter and depth of the distal portion). The receiving portion includes a bottom surface (e.g. a flat surface) opposite to the concave section of the vacuum liner when received therein, and defining an exterior liner space therewith.

Abstract: Metrology tool stage configurations and respective methods are provided, which comprise a pivoted connection arranged to receive a wafer and enable rotation thereof about a pivot; a radial axis arranged to radially move the rotatable pivoted connection attached thereto; and optics having a stationary part configured to generate a collimated illumination beam. For example, the optics may be stationary and the radial axis may be centrally rotated to enable stage operation without requiring additional space for guiding systems. In another example, a part of the optics may be rotatable, when configured to receive illumination via a mechanically decoupled or empty region, receive power and control wirelessly and deliver data wirelessly. The disclosed configurations provide more compact and more robust stages which efficiently handle large wafers. Stage configurations may be horizontal or vertical, the latter further minimizing the tool's footprint.
