    Abstract: A crushable ceramic heater core for an electric heater device which has a cylinder-like body of crushable ceramic material and grooves along the periphery of the body, the grooves being key shaped and adapted to receive a conductive pin in a groove. The invention also includes an electric heater device where such a core has been wound with heater wire and the conductive pin has been inserted in a core groove in contact with the wire, and the wire wound core has been installed in a sheath which has been filed with electrical insulting material. The sheath and its contents are swaged to create a compacted unitary heater assembly. The invention also includes the process for making the wire wound\grooved core having a conductive pin therein in contact with the wire winding, and a method for making a heating device having such a core and which has been compacted to a theoretical density. The heater assembly and the method may also include installation of temperature sensing devices.

    Abstract: An outdoor heating apparatus may include a top cover, a supporting structure including upper supporting members and lower supporting members, protection members and lower panels. The upper supporting members and the lower supporting members are connected together to form the supporting structure for the heating apparatus. In an exemplary embodiment, each upper supporting member is telescopically connected with corresponding lower supporting member, so the lower supporting member can be received in a hollow space provided by the upper supporting member. Thus, the size of the heating apparatus is significantly reduced, so it can be easily stored and transported. In another embodiment, the protection members can be squeezed into a space between two upper supporting members through two positioning units, so the user does not have to use any screws to secure the protection members.

    Abstract: A method for modifying an open-top burner system to a radiant burner system involves providing a stovetop having an open top burner system which includes a grate, burner head, and a venturi burner. The venturi burner includes an open top annular channel about a central opening. Further provided are a central hole plug, an emitter, and a radiant burner head assembly. To modify the stovetop, the grate and burner head are removed from the stovetop and the central plug is used to block airflow through the central opening. The radiant burner head assembly is next positioned over the venturi burner and the emitter is positioned over the radiant burner head assembly. This series of steps thereby converts the assembly from a traditional open-top burner system to a radiant burner system. A kit may be provided to facilitate the process.
