Abstract: A hollow poppet valve has an internal cavity which extends from within its valve head into a valve stem portion and is partly filled with a coolant. A manufacturing method includes forming a coolant rod by cutting clayish coolant to a coolant rod of a predetermined length from the coolant material extruded from an extruder; a coolant-rod insertion step in which a coolant rod is inserted into a cavity formed in an intermediate valve product through its opening; and a step of sealing the opening of the hole. In the coolant-rod insertion step, coolant-rods are inserted into the cavity separately in multiple times. Since each coolant rod is short, it is little deformed or bent, so that it has little interference with the inner periphery of the cavity, which permits use of a thick rod and increase the amount of the coolant in the cavity.

Abstract: The method for manufacturing a solid housing, in particular a valve housing for an electromagnetically operable valve, is characterized in that the following method steps are used: a) providing a sheet metal strip made of a magnetic or magnetizable material, b) introducing an additive into a middle area of the sheet metal strip and fusing there for forming a non-magnetizable structure, c) cutting the sheet metal strip into a sheet metal piece of desired width, d) deforming the sheet metal piece into a sleeve shape, e) mutual fastening of the cut edges now facing each other and running in the longitudinal direction of the sleeve for forming a sleeve blank, f) final machining of the sleeve blank until a desired geometry of the housing is achieved. The housing is suitable in particular for use in fuel injectors in fuel injector systems of mixture-compressing spark-ignition internal combustion engines.

Abstract: An injector includes a nozzle hole, a metal body including a high pressure passage inside the body, and a fuel pressure sensor attached to the body to detect fuel pressure. The sensor includes a metal flexure element resiliently deformed upon application of fuel pressure to the flexure element, and a sensor element that converts flexure in the flexure element into an electrical signal and outputs the signal as a pressure detection value. The body includes a sensor high pressure passage communicating with the flexure element, and a body side sealing surface on which the flexure element is pressed and closely-attached so that a clearance between the body and the flexure element is metal-to-metal sealed on the sealing surface. Carburizing treatment is performed on at least a part of the body that defines the sensor high pressure passage. The carburizing treatment is not performed on the sealing surface.

Abstract: According to the present invention, an outer lever (1) of a finger lever (2) that can be switched to different lifts for at least one gas exchange valve is made by a deep drawing method. A salient feature of the invention is that a cup-shaped base body (16) having an inverse U-shaped cross-section is deep drawn, and opposing running contact surfaces (14, 15) for high-lift cams are created on arms (4, 5) of the outer lever (1) by punching out a bottom (19) of the base body (16). Through the deep drawing method of the invention, only relatively low fabrication costs are to be expected.

Abstract: In accordance with various aspects of the present invention, methods and apparatuses for designing and configuring dissimilar material retention, specifically a valve plug assembly, are disclosed. The methods and apparatuses enable the application of a wider range of materials in a valve plug assembly than previous valve plug assemblies, and also increase the operational temperature range of the valve plug assembly. In an exemplary embodiment, a valve plug assembly comprises a plug head, a collet surrounding the plug head, a plug base adjacent to the collet, and a retainer surrounding the tapered outside surface of the collet and the plug base, where the plug head extends past the collet and the retainer. The valve plug assembly is configured to create an interference fit of the various components.

The valve body is made of two layers of material, an outer layer, and an inner layer that defines a plurality of leaflets. The leaflets of the inner layer are attached to the outer layer. In some embodiments the valve body is made by cutting a single piece of flat source tissue, folding the cut tissue and forming it into a tubular pattern having the inner and outer layers. The multi-layer valve body can be mounted on a stent for delivery within a patient's heart.

Abstract: A magnetic gap in a solenoid core is formed by a non-magnetic brazing material bonded into a groove encircling the core in the region of the magnetic gap. A bore through a single piece core and valve cartridge is dimensioned to intersect the brazing material and remove magnetic material bridging the gap without severing the core into separate pieces. This allows the solenoid core and the valve cartridge to be machined in a single piece with a uniform diameter bore receiving a single piece solenoid plunger and valve spool. This ensures accurate concentricity of the plunger and spool within the bore, which improves magnetic performance while reducing manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A valve plate assembly is provided including a plastic plate having a plurality of apertures therethrough, including at least one suction passage and at least one exhaust passage. A suction reed valve is disposed over the suction passage and an exhaust reed valve is disposed over the exhaust passage. A cylinder gasket is molded to a first side of the plastic plate and is adapted to seal around a cylinder of a cylinder housing. The cylinder gasket is recessed in a groove in the plastic plate. An end cap gasket is molded to a second side of the plastic plate and is adapted to seal against an end cap of a compressor. The end cap gasket is recessed in a groove in a second side of the plastic plate. The reed valves contact the plastic plate and are, therefore, quieter than a reed valve that is operated against a metal plate. The integration of the gasket into the recessed grooves of the plastic valve plate eliminates potential leak paths that exist with current designs.

Wall thickness of the nozzle can be selectively varied in each section drawn down or pulled.
