Disc Splitting To Form Pulley Rim Groove Patents (Class 29/892.2)
  • Patent number: 11745243
Abstract: A multi-axis roll-forming system for forming a stepped diameter in a cylinder includes a support that spins about a rotation axis while supporting a workpiece that includes the cylinder. A first actuator translates a first roller perpendicularly to the rotation axis. A second actuator moves a multi-axis roller radially outward, relative to the rotation axis, and upward along the rotation axis. The system may also include a first roller arm to which the multi-axis roller is coupled. The first roller arm is connected to a pivot joint having a pivot axis that is perpendicular to the rotation axis. The second actuator may include a linear-drive actuator that is coupled to the first roller arm and extends along the rotation axis to force the multi-axis roller to pivot about the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 8087169
Abstract: A sheet metal-made cup-shaped material including a circular base plate portion and a cylindrical portion extends from an outer peripheral edge portion of the base plate portion in one direction along the axis of the base plate portion. An annular groove is formed in an upper end portion of the cylindrical portion, whereby an annular projection that projects in a direction opposite to a direction along which the cylindrical portion extends is formed in the cylindrical portion. The annular projection and the cylindrical portion are clampingly pressed to a degree at which the annular groove at least disappears, whereby the outer circumferential face of the projection and the outer circumferential face of the cylindrical portion are flush with each other. Therefore, the axial length of a sheet metal-made back face pulley is increased, and the whole of the increased axial length can be used as the effective length.

  • Patent number: 6925713
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disc-shaped material made from metal sheet, provided for the manufacture of a pulley or the like. According to the present invention, even if the metal sheet is thin and light weight, a peripheral wall of sufficient strength can be formed, by the following steps: rotating the material held between a pair of dies and pressing an outer periphery of the material by means of a forming roller, in a radially inward direction, thereby thickening axially the outer periphery of the material to be extended to both sides of a non-processed portion, thus forming the peripheral wall.

  • Patent number: 6449845
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a gear part with a transversely directed profile, particularly a timing belt pulley, wherein a substantially rotationally symmetrical workpiece is fixed in a flow-forming device and rotated and wherein at least one profiled flow-forming tool is infed to a circumferential area of the workpiece such that a transversely directed profile is formed. According to the invention, prior to the forming of the transversely directed profile, the circumferential area of the workpiece is provided with at least one circumferentially directed groove and the transversely directed profile is formed axially on either side of the at least one groove. The invention also relates to a gear part, particularly a timing belt pulley, which has a substantially rotationally symmetrical construction and a circumferential area and which is provided with a transversely directed profile.

  • Patent number: 6209191
Abstract: A disk material is plastic-formed to form an inner cylindrical portion of a rotor and a cover member which covers an end side of the rotor. After that, the disk material is slit inwardly from an outside thereof in a radial direction of the disk material to form an outer cylindrical portion of the rotor and a pulley corresponding portion which will be the pulley. Finally, the pulley corresponding portion is plastic-formed to form a pulley groove. Thereby, even when the location of the pulley relative to the outer cylindrical portion are different, same processes can be applied to these different type pulley integrated rotors until the disk material is slit. That is, many different type pulley integrated type rotors can be manufactured with low cost while maintaining high concentric accuracy between the pulley and the rotor.
