  • Patent number: 4676081
Abstract: The panel lock comprises an elongated housing having resilient wedging means at each end to secure the panel lock in place in a recess in a door, panel or like member. Formed integrally with the elongated housing are a lock housing with a cylindrical opening, a central recessed portion, and a bolt housing. A lock is rotatably secured in the opening in the lock housing. A bolt is slidably positioned in the bolt housing. A spring is operative between the bolt and the bolt housing to bias the bolt outwardly from the bolt housing into locking position. An actuator is slidably secured to the elongated housing and is adapted to engage the bolt. When the actuator is moved in one direction, the bolt is biased outwardly to a latching position by the spring. Movement of the actuator in an opposite direction will move the bolt against the bias of the spring to a release position. Cam means are secured to the lock and are rotatable therewith to lock or to release the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4664440
Abstract: A vehicle roof structure including a stationary roof panel having an opening and a movable roof panel having a contour conforming to the opening. A handle is attached to the movable roof panel for manually positioning the movable roof panel. A support structure is connected to the stationary roof panel along the opening for releasably receiving a sliding bar extending from the handle. The support structure includes a plate secured to the stationary roof panel and a wall portion connected to the plate and defining a locking hole formed within the wall portion to receive the sliding bar. The handle includes an unlocking member for disengaging the sliding bar when positioned within the locking hole. In addition, the sliding bar contains a cam surface having a projection for contacting the unlocking member. Further, as least one inner panel is slidably positioned along the opening of the vehicle roof structure and supported by the wall portion.

  • Patent number: 4648638
Abstract: A lock assembly for a sliding closure has a bolt movable into and out of the path of the closure by a movable plate. A cam surface on the plate retracts the bolt from the path of the closure. A first spring moves the bolt into the path of the closure as the plate is moved by a pivoting reset lever engaging a tab on the plate. The plate is urged in the opposite direction by a second spring. A locking aperture on the plate and a solenoid with an armature engaging the aperture are provided for locking the plate in position at the limit of its travel to hold the bolt in the path of the closure. The solenoid is operated by either an inside or outside switch to release the plate and disengage the bolt. Alternatively, a plunger on the housing can be pushed to manually disengage the armature.

  • Patent number: 4640108
Abstract: A modular lock unit including a carrier frame and a heavy base plate and framework is positioned in a steel door jamb. A lock solenoid and an unlock solenoid are connected to opposite ends of a bolt cam slide extending through a vertical slot in a horizontally reciprocal bolt so that vertical movement of the slide effects camming movement of the bolt between an extended locking position and a retracted unlocking position. The slide includes a central slot oriented at approximately 45.degree. and having vertical deadlock end portions. A lock pin in the bolt extends through the central slot of the slide and enters the deadlock portion of the bolt when in either its extended or retracted position. Camming movement of the bolt is effected by the front and rear edges of the slide engageable with front and rear follower surfaces in the slot in the bolt.

  • Patent number: 4632439
Abstract: A door latch (24) suitable for latching a door (20) to a door frame (22). The door latch (24), in a preferred embodiment, has an adjustable nose bolt (36); is "panic unlatchable"; and can be operated by axial or rotational spindle forces supplied by, for example, a push button (48) or a door knob (120). The latch apparatus (24) preferably includes an adjustable nose bolt (36) which is adjustable in and out relative to the spindle (50). A trunnion (58) interposed between the inside handle (46) and the nose bolt (36) allows for relative adjustment of the nose bolt (36) with respect to the handle (46). In addition, a preferred embodiment of the latch apparatus (24) includes a lock lever (100) which forms a recess (108) suitable for capturing a spindle ear (110) to substantially prevent the spindle from operating the latch apparatus (24) to move the nose bolt (36) from a first position to a second position.

  • Patent number: 4509347
Abstract: A modular lock unit has a lock solenoid and an unlock solenoid connected to opposite ends of a bolt cam slide for operating a horizontally reciprocal bolt. A centered circuit automatically locks the door when it is closed and automatically retracts the bolt in the event that any obstruction is provided in the strike in the door so as to preclude damage to the solenoid employed for extending the bolt. A time delay relay in the circuit terminates power to the lock solenoid after it has been actuated for 1.5 seconds so as to preclude solenoid damage if the bolt is blocked.
