    Abstract: A latch is provided for a mortise lock of the type comprising a housing for accommodating the lock components. The latch comprises a first and second portions movably mounted in the housing and a securing element for releasably connecting the first and second portions in either a first relative axial position or a second relative axial position where the first and second portions of the latch are rotatable relative to one another. In the first axially connected position of the latch, the first and second portions of the latch are movable together relative to the housing so that the first portion at least partially non-rotatably projects outwardly from the opening in the housing in an extended position of the latch, and the first portion is inside the housing in a retracted position of the latch.

A plurality of lever arms are pivotally mounted on the bracket, with each arm having opposite front and back sides. A plurality of clips are mounted on the lever arms to receive rods and/or cables from the door handles and lock mechanism so as to control the opening and closing of the latch. The clips can be mounted from both the front and back sides of the arms, such that the logic assembly is a non-handed universal product.

    Abstract: An automatic door latch is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the latch includes a dead bolt which is automatically moved from a partially retracted or trigger position to a fully extended locking position when a door in which the lock is mounted is closed. When a key is used to unlock the dead bolt from outside of the door, or a finger turn or key is used to unlock the dead bolt from inside of the door, the dead bolt is automatically reset to the trigger position. In a preferred embodiment, the dead bolt lock includes a multi-position switch mounted in the lock housing which engages a contact member mounted on the dead bolt. Retraction of the dead bolt into the housing causes the multi-position switch to engage the contact member and to secure the dead bolt in the trigger position. Subsequent retraction of the dead bolt into the housing causes the multi-position switch to disengage from the contact member, thereby allowing the dead bolt to extend from the housing to the locked position.

In specific embodiments of the invention, the location at which the retractable panel is secured to a vertical panel is vertically adjustable, a uniform attachment between differing thicknesses of the flexible material of a retractable panel is maintained and the tension of spring loaded roller upon which the material is coiled is adjustable. The housing containing a retractable panel as well as the corresponding jamb member can be magnetically attached to vertical surfaces defined in an open plan furniture arrangement.

    Abstract: A portable door lock assembly for locking a door in a partially open attitude has an elongated base member with a length greater than the width of a standard door frame. First and second hollow members are secured to opposite ends of the base member. A pair of central hollow members are secured to the base member between the first and second hollow members. An elongated cup mount member is provided. The cup mount member has a cup for receiving the bottom of a door pivotally secured to one end. Its other end has an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the first, second and central hollow members so the first, second and central hollow members can telescopingly receive the cup mount member. The cup mount member is telescopingly secured in the particular hollow member depending on the type of entryway and which side of the door is hinged to the frame. At no time during use does the door lock have to be bolted, screwed or otherwise fastened to the wall, door, or frame.

The slidable security plate is immobilized by placing a padlock or security pin in a security plate aperture. A striker handle is attached to the striker bar in a parallel fashion to allow for facile griping and pivoting of the striker bar by the user. A rear handle secured to the opposite side of the gate or door allows for operation of the latch from opposite the locking side.

The second cam mechanism is coupled to a latch bolt so that rotations of the first cam mechanism will result in movements of the latch bolt. The improved latch mechanism is designed to permit complete retraction of the latch bolt through rotation of the first cam mechanism by less than one-twelfth of a revolution, in either direction of rotation.

The latch bolt is rotable to a first orientation and to a second orientation. The reversible mortise lock further comprises an interfering member disposed within and accessible from outside the casing. The interfering member has a portion thereof sized for insertion into the spindle hub slots. The interfering member is pivotable to a first position corresponding to the first orientation of the latch bolt that allows only one of the hubs to pivot and to a second position corresponding to the second orientation of the latch bolt that allows only the other hub to pivot. The interfering member is pivotable from outside the casing without disassembling the reversible mortise lock.

The handle and lock assembly comprises inside and outside escutcheons for mounting onto the vertical stile at one side edge of a sliding door and carrying a respective pair of handles for use in manually sliding the door between open and closed positions. A lock mechanism mounted into the stile is operated by a keyed lock cylinder unit mounted on the outside escutcheon and by a manually pivoted latch lever mounted on the inside escutcheon. The handles and latch lever are adapted for reversible mounting onto their associated escutcheons to permit reconfiguration of the assembly for mounting onto the stile at the left or right side edge of the door.
