Abstract: A magnetic gate latch has a multiplicity of permanent magnets arranged on a pair of disks with half of the magnets in mutual attraction and half of the magnets in mutual repulsion. These magnetic forces are used to brake and close a gate or door. One of the disks is made axially movable with respect to the other so as to assume mutual repulsion in one position and mutual attraction in a second position. The movable disk is attached to a gate or door closing member and the other disk is attached to the closing structure post or jamb. Magnetic forces in the repulsion position are used in the invention to reverse the movable disk from a mutual repulsion position to a mutual attraction position.

The latch structure comprises a base, a plate, a rotating element, hooks, a magnetic element, springs, locating posts, a latch element, a pushing element, and screws. One side of the magnetic element is rotatable by the pin, and the other side is mounted with the spring and the locating post. When door is closed inwardly, the pushing element pushes the rotating element forwardly to push the magnetic element contacting with the latch element which are attracting due to the magnetic field. The hooks then engage with the connecting portions. When power is off, spring abuts the magnetic element to release the hook from the connecting portion. The benefit is that as long as the attract force of the magnetic field larger than the pressure of the spring, the hooks and the latch element are decided to engage or separate, increasing the load ability of the latch structure. It is therefore large load ability is acquired only required few attract force, decreasing costs.

Abstract: A magnetic latch assembly includes a first body, a second body, and a magnetic block and a magnetic latch. The magnetic block is movably disposed on the first body; therefore, it can be selectively moved close to or far away a first opening of the first body. The magnetic latch is disposed on the second body corresponding to a second opening of the second body. In addition, two ends of the magnetic latch form a hook portion and a tip portion, respectively. When the first body is close up against the second body and the magnetic block is moved close to the first opening, the magnetic block and the tip portion repel each other due to magnetic force so as to drive the magnetic latch rotating, so that the hook portion is moved and passing through the second opening and the first opening and hooked against the first body.

A metal piece is installed at a predetermined position in a display body, which is foldably coupled to the main body, and generates attractive force between the metal piece and the permanent magnet of the electromagnet. The electromagnet generates magnetic force to offset the attractive force between the permanent magnet and the metal piece when external electricity is applied to the electromagnet. The apparatus also includes a coil spring which elastically biases the display body to open the display body when external electricity is applied to the electromagnet.

Abstract: A magnetic self-latching device for a gate has a main body with handles on either side for operation or has an arrangement to be remotely actuated, for example electrically. A latching body has a high strength magnet usually provided at the bottom of a cavity which defines a latching shoulder. The latching body is adapted to be fixed to a gate post. The main body, with its housing, can be mounted on the gate frame and incorporates a latch pin which, in the door-closed position, is displaced by magnetic attraction to an extended latching position and against the biasing of a return spring. The gate cannot be opened until actuation of the mechanism occurs, for example by rotating a handle to retract the pin against the magnetic force; the gate can then be swung open. When the handle is released, the biasing spring retains the latch pin in a retracted position.

Abstract: A latch structure is provided herein.
