  • Patent number: 8939472
Abstract: A latching assembly for mounting a printhead to a plate assembly of a printing machine comprises a barrel attached to the printhead and an actuator member having an actuator head disposed for translation and rotation relative to the barrel and a latch element with a circumferential element configured to engage a catch surface on the plate assembly upon rotation of the actuator member. A ratchet mechanism between the actuator head and the barrel is configured to hold the actuator head at different longitudinal positions relative to the barrel upon rotation of the actuator head. A push button is carried by the barrel and a cam mechanism is defined between the push button and the actuator member that is configured to rotate the actuator member relative to the barrel when the proximal face of the push button is manually depressed. As the push button is successively pushed the circumferential element successively engages the catch surface.

Abstract: A keyless door lock that prevents young children from opening doors. The lock is a bolting mechanism type lock or a latching type lock having no keyed lock access side to it, but rather, a means for locking and unlocking the lock, such as a knob, on one or both sides of the door that when turned, unlocks the door. The lock is positioned within the door at a height that is unreachable by small children. The lock can lock doors internal to the home (e.g., doors to medicine closets, cleaning supply closets, garage doors, doors at the top of stairs) and doors that provide access to the exterior of the home, thus access to leave the home without supervision. Adults and older children, however, are never locked in or out of the room or house as merely the turning of a knob is required for operating the lock.

  • Patent number: 5280973
Abstract: A hatch securing mechanisms has a base attached to a hatchway and a hasp ached to a hatch lid. The base has an apertured retainer and a pinway element, the hasp being held between the retainer and pinway element during closure of the lid. A latch pin translatable in the pinway element has an angled tip which slides against a bevelled surface of the hasp to force the hasp into tighter, locked engagement with the base. The latch pin has a helical groove segment about the pin's axis, and a stud fixed to the pinway element engages the groove segment. The interaction of the stud and groove segment effects translation of the latch pin when the pin is manually rotated. The action of the latch pin also compresses an elastically deformable seal between the door and door frame so that the seal is increasingly effective against explosive blast pressures. The invention includes a lock mechanism for keeping the latch pin in a hasp retaining position unless the pin is manually moved.

Abstract: A lock comprising a stationary sleeve, a hollow cylindrical member, a tubular member and a means for rotating the hollow cylindrical member. The stationary sleeve defines a spirally extending slot that extends its entire length. The spirally extending slot is formed between a first edge and a second edge of the stationary sleeve. The hollow cylindrical member defines an axially extending slot that extends its entire length. The hollow cylindrical member is movably positioned within the stationary sleeve. The tubular member has a projecting tab fixed thereto and is slidably disposed within the hollow cylindrical member wherein the projecting tab is slidingly engaged simultaneously within the spirally and axially extending slots. The rotating means causes the hollow cylindrical member to rotate in a first direction or in a second direction. When the hollow cylindrical member is rotated in a first direction, the projecting tab physically contacts the first edge of the stationary sleeve.

Abstract: A automatic locking and unlocking device for effecting the locking engagement of a lock stud within a stud receiving fixture. The lock device of the present invention is adapted for locking a movable closure member relative to a stationary member, such as a vending machine door to a cabinet, and provides a quick open and quick close locking feature. The locking device includes a lock stud fitted with a t-handle at its outer end, and a nose portion inner end, the nose portion having a pair of opposed pin engagement ledges formed therein adjacent the nose portion, and provided with male threads positioned adjacent to and forwardly of the pin engagement ledges. The stationary member is provided with a stud receiving lock housing which contains a stationary cam sleeve, a rotatable cam sleeve which reciprocates relative to the stationary cam sleeve, and a coupling which is positioned anteriorly of the rotatable cam sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4840287
Abstract: A simple to operate locking mechanism for a pressure cooker, the locking mechanism having a locking arm rotatable from a fully open to a fully locked position, the locking arm being operatively connected to a cam shaft assembly which is rotatable with the locking arm, the cam shaft assembly being slidably axially in a cam shaft sleeve rotatably mounted in a displacement member which causes the cam shaft assembly to be axially displaced as it is rotated by the locking arm, the cam shaft assembly being moveable from a retracted to an extended position as the locking arm moves from a fully open to an intermediate position. A safety mechanism is provided to prevent rotation of the locking arm from the intermediate to the fully locked position in the event the cam shaft assembly is not fully extended. A pressure responsive safety mechanism is also provided to prevent opening movement of the locking mechanism in the event the cooker is under pressure.

Abstract: An arrangement for securing a housing cover, especially useful for securing a cover for a switch box having electrical switching devices therein includes at least one screwable element which can be threaded to the housing and which is secured undetachably on the cover by a stop on its shaft. The shaft extends through the cover, each of the screwable elements extending through a bottom of an indentation in a surface of the cover. A pre-stressed compression spring is disposed in the indentation between a shoulder of the screwable element and the base of the indentation. Each screwable element comprises a shaft nut, the shaft nut having a shaft with an indentation in its pressure-receiving face. The shaft engages with a threaded pin attached to the housing and rests against a structural part which is supported against a support attached to the housing. The screwable element is centered by a centering body positioned directly ahead of the support on the threaded pin.
