    Abstract: A gate apparatus that includes a gate, an elongate member or gate base for the ends of the gate, and a stairway post adapter such that a wooden stairway post can serve as a base for a gate without harming the wood of the stairway post. The stairway post adapter includes a vertical or longitudinally running channel for receiving the gate base, a horizontally or laterally extending channel for receiving a strap, and a recess or receptor or face for confronting a section of a stairway post. The gate base includes an upper and lower eyelet. Each of the ends of the gate includes upper and lower pins for engaging the upper and lower eyelets of the gate bases. On the hinge side of the gate, the pins are relatively long and remain in the eyelets as the gate is lifted and swung. On the latch side of the gate, the pins are relatively short such that that latch side of the gate can be lifted and disengaged from the eyelets and then swung open. The gate is extendable and retractable in length, and is reversible.

Also, the biasing of elements into the locking state makes embodiments of the invention less likely to unlock inadvertently in the presence of ambient vibrations.

    Abstract: A positional control device is provided to prevent accidental drifting of an overhead sectional door upward or downward from a fully opened, partly opened or fully closed position. The device allows the door to be manually moved to a different elevation without requiring a separate operation to release the door from its original position.     Abstract: A child safety latch which cannot be actuated by those having relatively short fingers. A spring-biased lock is slidably moved within the J-shaped tracks of a guard tube. The latch is in an unlocked position when the locking pin rests in the larger side of the J-shaped track. In this position, the spring biases the locking pin against the top of the larger side of the track. Actuation of the latch, i.e. pushing down on the button located on top of the lock, lowers the lock against the spring. The complete lowering of the lock and the full compression of the spring occurs when the locking pin is at the bottom of the J-shaped track. A slight counter-clockwise twist of the finger urges the locking pin into the smaller side of the J-shaped track, where the lock is spring biased against the top of the smaller side.

The socket secures the shaft therein and the cam abutting the door against breaking the door in. While maintaining the securing of the shaft, cam and door against break-ins, the shaft is pivotal in the socket, without removing the shaft from the socket, to and from respective selected pivot positions of the shaft in the socket, in which positions a respective portion of the periphery of the cam abuts the door in a completely closed position of the door, and respectively, in at least one partially open position of the door. The shaft is removably mounted in the socket for removal when desired.

Spring means are disposed about the lever rod for biasing the lever rod into the recess in the seat frame. A handle is secured to the lever rod for rotating same. When the lever rod is in a first position on the cam means, the spring means will bias the lever rod into engagement with the recess.
