  • Patent number: 4669282
Abstract: A door lock is provided for use with a building wall having a door opening formed by building framing members and in which a door is pivotally mounted and movable between a closed and an open position. The door lock has a locking bolt which is slidably mounted by a slide block to the building framing members on the inside of the wall. A key operated assembly accessible from the outside of the wall is operable to move the locking bolt between a locking position in which a portion of the bolt extends behind the door and thus into the path of the door swing, and a nonlocking position in which the bolt is retracted into the slide block and thus spaced downwardly from the path of the door swing. Since the slide block is mounted to the building framing member, typically a two by four wooden stud, the door lock utilizes the strength of the building itself rather than just the strength of the door or its jamb.

  • Patent number: 4656850
Abstract: An electric lock comprising a solenoid which has a permanent magnet for attracting a plunger and an electromagnetic coil which is positioned adjacent the permanent magnet so as to control the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet. A cam member which has a cam surface formed at one end thereof engages an engaging pin when a bolt operating member is rotated so as to lock the electric lock so that an engaging rod is forced to move in the direction opposite to the direction in which an engaging bolt is biased, the other end of the engaging rod being connected to the plunger of the solenoid. A positive voltage application unit responds to an unlocking signal so as to temporarily cause a current to flow through the electromagnetic coil in such a way that the flux produced by the electromagnetic coil cancels the magnetic flux produced by the permanent magnet.

Abstract: A lock arrangement to be secured in a door panel is formed of as few parts as possible and includes a pair of knobs to be secured to the opposite sides of the door panel and an elongated latch bolt. The latch bolt is operated by an actuating pin eccentrically arranged within and extending between the knobs. The actuating pin interconnects the knobs so that they can be turned together. The knobs have the same outside configuration and the knob surfaces which face one another each have a recessed edge which fits into a bore formed in the door panel extending between the knobs. The actuating pin operating the latch bolt is located in the locking position of the bolt on an extension of the elongated direction of the bolt. A spring biases the bolt into the locking position. A retaining pin extends between and is centered relative to the knobs and secures the knobs to the door panel.
