Patent number: 6142554Abstract: This invention is directed to a bow end used for sliding bow covering systems which utilizes a solid trolley rail or trolley rail cables or cable or tubular track, trolley wheels and a trolley base having a bow support. The trolley rails or cables are attached to each side of any open top unit or the track is attached along the side. The trolley bow end rides on the trolley rail or in the track without touching the trailer. The important difference in this concept is that the roller wheels are located substantially below the horizontal line of the top of the trailer unit, this allows for side delivery of the contents of the trailer without allowing the contents to effect the trailer trolley rails or cable. Also an extension for storing the bows and tarp in the open position extends out either the front or back end, thus not interfering with the open top of the dump unit. The unit is designed for use with any open to dump box.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1999Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: Truckhugger Tarp Systems, Inc.Inventors: Ronald D. Patent number: 5275458Abstract: A tonneau cover assembly is provided having a rail network, a plurality of clamps, one or more crossbars and a flexible top. The rail network is secured about the bed of a pick-up truck, using clamps. Thus, no holes are made in the vehicle, and the entire tonneau cover assembly can be mounted without the use of tools. After the rail network is secured to the truck, the crossbars are placed over the truck bed, and snap onto the clamps. Insert tips allow the crossbars to adjust to various lengths. A tang on the clamp is received by the insert tip, and provides resistance to torsional forces. A hook assembly is sewn about the periphery of the flexible cover and is secured to the rail network. To disengage the flexible cover from the rail network, a stripping member is used. In the first preferred embodiment, the stripping member rests within the rail network and forcibly ejects a portion of the hook assembly from the rail network.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1992Date of Patent: January 4, 1994Assignee: Custom Form Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Jack Barben, Ross Weldy, Benjamin M. Patent number: 5186513Abstract: This cargo bay cover is a convenient, water-resistant, soft cover for a cargo bay. The cover is designed with five easily removable support arms (38) covered with a lightweight, water-resistant material (20). The support arms are steadied by rigid support brackets (32,34) which fit tightly around the upper side-wall ridge (82) of the cargo bay. Tension caused by the design of the support arms (38) pressing against the support brackets (32,34), and the stabilizer members (36), steady the cover during use. When the cover is not needed it can be removed, rolled up (FIG. 7), and stored in a handy storage bag (80).Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1992Date of Patent: February 16, 1993Inventor: Sander Strother
