Patent number: 7036867Abstract: A car cover, include a top piece and at least two-section side pieces. The two-section side pieces can be fabricated from side pieces and inclined pieces, edges of which are designed with non-straight convex arc line cut edges, and horizontally protruding regions are formed after joining the edges. The two-section side pieces can also be fabricated from front side pieces and rear side pieces, edges of which are designed with non-straight convex arc line cut edges, and vertically protruding regions are formed after joining the edges. Space within the outward expanding, curved protruding regions is used to contain rear-view mirrors of the car body when covering the car body with the car cover, thereby achieving a structure that is easy to manufacture and reduces manufacturing cost. Moreover, the car cover has universal suitability for many different car models and provides the convenience of covering and uncovering.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2005Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: Formosa Saint Jose Corp.Inventor: Ming-Shun Yang

Patent number: 6981509Abstract: A protective cover for a vehicle comprising a sheet or a web of a flexible material that possesses a property of buckling or curving in the upward direction from the vehicle with the formation of a canopy-type shield for protecting the vehicle from direct sun rays, birds' droppings, etc. The sheet has a length exceeding the length of the upper surface periphery of the vehicle so that the upwardly curved canopy is formed either by applying two oppositely directed forces to the opposite ends of the sheet or by prestressing the sheet. The sheet can be made from plastic or a fabric that incorporates springing metal strips that tend to curve upward when they are in a free state. The sheet can be conveniently stored in wound state in a cylindrical cassette. Storage of the flexible material in a wound state enhances the property of bucking or curving when the sheet is withdrawn from the cassette.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2003Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Inventor: Sergey Sharapov

Patent number: 6964446Abstract: A retractable vehicle cover apparatus for covering a vehicle comprises an elongated, hollow housing, and axle disposed therein for rotation about a central axis, and an elongated cover having a proximal end coupled with the axle and also having a distal end. The housing includes wall structure having an elongated aperture defined through the wall structure. The cover is fed through the aperture for selective movement between a retracted position where the cover is wrapped around the axle, and an extended position where a substantial portion of the cover extends from the housing. The cover includes an outer layer of aligned cover strips, a middle, elastic layer and an inner layer of aligned padding strips. The elastic layer biases the cover toward a rest width substantially the same length as the aperture to facilitate extension and retraction of the cover, and permits selective expansion of the cover in order to more fully cover the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2004Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Inventor: Matthew B. Porter

Patent number: 6672643Abstract: The vehicle cover of the invention consists of three pivotally interconnected cassettes with rolls of a flexible protective cover material stored in each of the cassettes and unwoundable therefrom through a slit in the side of the cassette, similar to a photo film that can be pulled out from a film cassette. In a folded state the cassettes are arranged side by side parallel to each other. Each cassette consists of two parallel sections with the flexible material in each section wound in mutually opposite directions so that the protective flexible materials of each section can be pulled out in mutually opposite directions. The first and third cassettes are pivotally connected to the second, i.e., the intermediate cassette so that they can be turned by 90° with respect to the intermediate cassette. The ends of the flexible materials may be provided with hooks or other means for securing the materials to the vehicle body in a retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2002Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Inventors: Arkadiy Brodskiy, Boris Brodsky, Leonid Brodsky
