Rear Patents (Class 296/203.04)
  • Patent number: 11358650
Abstract: A rear vehicle-body structure of a vehicle capable of increasing the support rigidity of a rear suspension and the transmission efficiency of a rear-end collision load to the vehicle front side. A side sill has an upper closed cross-section portion. The upper closed cross-section portion includes a closed cross-sectional space extending in the vehicle front-rear direction. A linear connecting frame connecting a rear end of the upper closed cross-section portion to a rear side housing is between the rear end of the upper closed cross-section portion and the rear side housing. The connecting frame is inclined to be closer to a vehicle lower side as the connecting frame approaches the vehicle front side. The upper closed cross-section portion is inclined to be closer to an upper side as the upper closed cross-section portion approaches a vehicle rear side to correspond to an inclination angle of the connecting frame.

  • Patent number: 11242089
Abstract: A chassis for a passenger car includes two main longitudinal chassis beams which are connected to one another via a bumper cross member. A support arrangement extends between the two beams and is supported on a central tunnel. The support arrangement forms a load path in an event of a collision-related force being applied to the passenger car where above and/or below the support arrangement an installation space region is provided for accommodating a component or unit in need of protection. The support arrangement includes a strut which extends in a region of a center of the passenger car between the two beams and which forms a protective device which transmits impact forces forwards to the central tunnel. The strut has a first longitudinal section that is deformable in a targeted energy-absorbing manner and a second longitudinal section which functions as a rigid beam.

Abstract: A rear corner vehicle roof structure includes a rear structural pillar and a small cap-like reinforcement member. The rear pillar includes a vertically elongated base portion which transitions into a bifurcated upper end portion forming a longitudinally extending stub arm which is affixed to an associated side roof rail and a laterally extending stub arm which is affixed to an associated rear roof header. The reinforcement member includes a central bridge portion trifurcated to form extensions conforming to the pillar upper portion, the longitudinally extending stub arm and the laterally extending stub arm. The reinforcement member further includes peripherally flanged web segments disposed between circumferentially adjacent pairs of the pillar base portion, longitudinal and lateral stub arms. The flanged web segments are affixed to opposed continuous flange portions of the upper end portion and configured to support the central bridge portion in a spaced relation from the upper end portion.

Abstract: In a vehicle rear structure, flange portions disposed on an end portion of a front skeleton that extend in the vehicle width direction along a front edge of an upper back panel are joined to a joined flange portion between a wheel well outer member and a wheel well inner member of a rear wheel well. The joined flange portion is a region whose rigidity is high in a vehicle body side portion. Moreover, the flange portions of the front skeleton are joined to flange portions of the wheel well outer member and the wheel well inner member in a three-layer overlay. Because of this, the rigidity of the joint between the front skeleton and the vehicle body side portion is better than heretofore.

A lateral bead is formed along a ridgeline region that is formed by an inner upper wall portion and an inner rear wall portion of an inner panel of the trunk door. The lateral bead is not connected to a ring bead formed at an outer periphery of the inner panel. Thus, stiffness of the ridgeline region may be suppressed compared with a case in which the lateral bead is connected to the ring bead. Thus, substantial V-form folding of an outer upper wall portion and an outer rear wall portion may be suppressed.
