The cover layer is essentially free of fibreglass and comprises a polymeric substrate having disposed therein a plurality of porous material layers. It has been found that the use of fibreglass as a reinforcing material (and other sheet materials having a tensile modulus of greater than or equal to about 0.5 GPa when measured pursuant to ASTM D 5034) in a foam laminate product can be avoided by using a porous material layer in place of the fibreglass. • Patent number: 7648753
Abstract: A vehicle panel includes a care layer and a reinforcement layer positioned on one or both sides of the core layer. The core layer is made of a material with heat absorption or insulation properties, such as polypropylene, and the like. The reinforcement layer is comprised of fiberglass strands intermingled with a polymer to form a blended composition having a density in a range between about 50 and 200 g/m2. The vehicle panel may also include an adhesive layer between a cover material and the reinforcement layer on one side of the core layer. The vehicle panel may also include a scrim material adjacent the reinforcement layer on the opposite side of the core layer. The reinforcement layer provides dimensional stability to the vehicle panel, while reducing the overall weight and thickness of the vehicle panel as compared to conventional vehicle panels.

Abstract: Fasteners characterized by structures which are suitable to be engaged reversibly in a slot of a rigid part, such as a metal sheet or the frame of a car for example. The structure provides easy insertion but difficult extraction of the fastener from the slot, without producing squeaking noises during end-use. Easy manufacturing and high dimensional accuracy are also great assets of the fasteners. The invention also pertains to an assembly of said rigid part and the fastener, an assembly connecting parts with the fastener of this invention, as well as vehicles comprising such assemblies.

Abstract: An assembly for creating a folded edge for a flexible headliner material. A table defines an outer configured perimeter upon which is supported the headliner with or without a supporting template. Pairs of primary and secondary fingers are arranged at perimeter spaced locations in mounted fashion over the outer configured perimeter. The fingers contact outwardly displaceable fashion relative to the headliner inner perimeter, and such that the fingers are cooperatively displaced in a first step imparting a bent edge to the headliner. A projecting edge of the secondary finger is subsequently displaced over a terminating edge of the first finger in order to fold over the bent edge, or against the template, to form the edge profile to the headliner in a non-pleated fashion.
