Abstract: A convertible furniture assembly for use on a support surface by one or two humans with backs and buttocks. The assembly includes a framework adapted to rest upon the support surface and first and second sections with proximal and distal end portions disposed on the framework. Hinge assemblies forming a pivot interconnect the proximal end portions so that the first and second sections form buttocks and back supports respectively for the humans. Arm assemblies are mounted on the framework for raising and lowering the distal end portions of the sections independent of each other about the pivot of the hinge assemblies. The sections can be moved from a coplanar and substantially horizontal position resting upon the framework, where they can form at least a part of a bed, to positions at which they are disposed at an angle with respect to each other, where they form at least a part of a lounge.

Abstract: A plate structure of a generally L-shaped configuration includes a first plate portion coplanar with a second plate portion, with the first plate portion including a plurality of first plate portion apertures directed therethrough to receive fasteners for securement to the bottom surface of a chair arm of an associated chair assembly. In this manner, various computer components may be readily oriented relative to the chair assembly in proximity to a user of such components.

Abstract: A seat for an infant includes a base frame portion which includes a pair of upwardly and rearwardly extending inclined members, a pair of connecting assemblies, a collapsible back frame portion, a leg frame portion, and a cover on the back and leg frame portions. The connecting assemblies are operative for connecting the back and leg frame portions to the inclined members so that the back frame portion normally extends upwardly and rearwardly therefrom, and so that the leg frame portion normally extends forwardly therefrom, but so that the leg and back frame portions are optionally pivotable rearwardly and downwardly to a collapsed position of the seat without requiring disassembly thereof.

Abstract: A foldable rocking chair of the type comprising in combination: a base provided with a pair of parallel riding surfaces spaced apart from each other and connected together, each riding surface being ondulated; a back provided with a pair of stiles, a lower portion of each stile defining a short rear leg; a seat; a pair of main rear legs, each leg having an upper portion, an intermediate portion and a lower portion provided with rolling means; a pair of front members, each member having a upper portion defining a stem and a lower portion provided with rolling means; a pair of arms; a pair of connecting members; six pairs of connectors. Each connector defines means for pivotally connecting parts together and defining a pivoting axis substantially horizontal and perpendicular with the longitudinal axis of riding surfaces. Aforesaid stiles, arms, front members, legs, seat and connecting members are movable around their corresponding connectors between a folded position and a unfolded position.

Abstract: A tray assembly for wheel chairs incorporates a pair of trays, capable of relative planar movement, which are rotatingly mounted upon a horizontal support member which is, in turn, rotatable about the vertical axis of a vertical support member mounted upon the wheel chair. A tubular vertical mounting post may be fixed within a vertical wheel chair frame opening, utilizing a stem connecting member, or, alternatively, may be externally clamped to the frame of the wheel chair. A tubular vertical support member telescopically fits about and is releasably clamped to the mounting post, to permit both vertical adjustment and rotation about a vertical axis. A horizontal support member continues from the upper end of the vertical support member. A tray mounting plate is attached at the horizontal support member by a releasable clamping means, permitting rotation about a horizontal axis.

Abstract: A chair-desk is described having a reversible construction adapted for use by both left and right handed persons. The chair-desk comprises an L-shaped tablet having a pair of opposing surfaces defining a flat writing area. A projection extends from an end of the tablet in a direction perpendicular to a back of the chair. A channel cut into the chair back receives the projection and serves as a guide permitting the tablet to be shifted from a right to left side of the chair and the writing surfaces to be rotated by 180.degree..

Abstract: A personal computer desk which has a recess in the desk top of a depth, size and configuration to accommodate a range of personal computer keyboards, and a portion of the desk top also forms a lid to cover the personal computer when closed, but once unlocked and in its open position, a face of the lid carries a liquid crystal screen for displaying images thereon thereby adapting the desk for universal usage. An area below the seat of the desk is totally permanently closed on all but one side and this one side can be closed through the use of a roll-top shutter door for storage purposes. A rear end portion of the desk top is mounted for up and down and fore and aft adjustment relative to the desk frame and in conjunction with the latter a front end portion of the desk top is also mounted for selective step-wise vertical adjustment.

Abstract: A tablet arm assembly for mounting on a wheelchair or the like comprises a tablet arm, a telescoping support for mounting the tablet arm on the wheelchair, a pivot mechanism for pivotally connecting the tablet arm to the support to permit the tablet arm to pivot from a horizontal use position to a vertical storage position alongside the wheelchair, and a slide mechanism for slidably connecting the tablet arm to the support to permit the tablet arm to be adjusted in its horizontal use position and slide downward into its vertical storage position. The pivot mechanism comprises a two-way hinge adapted to permit the table arm to be flipped up from its horizontal use position and to pivot downward to its vertical storage position. The two-way hinge is adjustable to permit the tablet arm to pivot downward in either a forward or rearward direction relative to the wheelchair.

Abstract: A tray device is presented which can be easily secured to or removed from the supporting arm of a piece of furniture such as a lawn chair. The tray and the arm provide a snap-fit arrangement which also affords a pivoting or swiveling for the tray on the lawn chair. The combined snap-fit and swivel arrangement is afforded by an annular flange member extending from the bottom of the tray. A base member is supported by the lawn chair which has an arcuate undercut to receive a portion of the annular flange as well as a portion opposite the undercut for retaining the annular flange in the base member. A cup or glass receiving compartment is formed with the tray and positioned over the flange member to add stability to the tray when it is engaged by the base member.

Abstract: An upright, detachably attachable to the frame of a wheelchair, supports a vertically adjustable mounting for a service tray. The mounting includes a quick release cam for precisely locating and pivoting the service tray into and out of a position of use.

Abstract: A table attachment is provided for attachment to the arms of a chair such as a lawn chair, director's chair, some types of wheelchairs, etc. A typical chair has a pair of arm rests. The invention provides a pair of supports, one for and adapted to be mounted on and to lie lengthwise of each arm rest. A table member is attached to the front ends of the supports by peg and hole devices arranged so that the table may not only be removed from spanning relation to the supports but may be re-mounted (or initially mounted) on but one support, the peg and hole devices being arranged so as to provide for a plurality of positions of the table as respects the supports. Each support is further pivoted to its arm rest on a vertical axis so as to be capable of selective lateral swinging. The parts may be folded for temporary storage within a folding type of lawn chair, for example, without complete disassembly from the chair.

Abstract: A reversible chair-desk construction for use by left and right handed persons with equal facility including a chair having an upright back. A generally L-shaped tablet arm terminates at one end in an enlarged tablet having two opposed sides, each defining a writing surface and the opposite end of the arm is pivoted to the back of the chair generally medially of the center thereof to define a substantially horizontal pivot axis. The tablet may thus be pivoted between writing positions on either the right hand or the left hand side of the chair to allow the chair to be converted very simply to the writing style of the person to occupy the same.

Abstract: An assembly for mounting a tray on a chair may be an integral part of a chair arm or may be releasably attached to a chair, and includes a cooperating slide and track, one on the chair and the other on a tray. The tray may be swung about a vertical axis and moved lengthwise of the track from a position alongside a person seated in the chair to a position in front of the person seated in the chair.
