  • Patent number: 8979190
Abstract: A tray attached to a pivot housing, support arm, and armrest clamp may be easily and quickly detached and reattached to an armrest on a chair. The tray may rotate around an arm hub when a stationary lower index plate in the arm hub is displaced from an upper index plate in the index housing. The tray is restrained from rotation when the upper and lower index plates are in contact with one another. The tray may be disconnected from the support arm while the support arm remains clamped to an armrest. The armrest clamp includes a bevel gear driven in rotation by a clamping ring on the support arm. The bevel gear drives rack gear attached to a traveling clamp jaw. The substantially horizontal section is oriented at an angle to the direction of the sitting surface, and the tablet can swivel about an axis substantially parallel to this section.

Abstract: In a seating system for passenger service vehicles, and for aircraft in particular, having a seat structure (19), a seat element, a backrest (5), an arm rest (7), and table element (1), the table element (1) is movable between a storage position and a use position. In the use position, the table element (1) faring a table surface (3). The table element (1) is pivotally connected to the seat structure (19, 27) by lever mechanism (23, 33), and a power drive (21) is provided, which is coupled to the lever mechanism (23, 33) to form an over-center mechanism. The power drive (21) pivots the table element (1) from the storage position into an intermediate position, which is defined by the over-center mechanism, and from the intermediate position into the use position after over-centering of the intermediate position has been overcome by application of a force to the table element (1).

Abstract: A tablet adjustment mechanism is provided to control the movement of a tablet of a seat assembly between a lowered non-use or stowed position under the armrest and a raised or use position, and further control the tablet's movement between an inward use position and an outward use position. The adjustment mechanism includes a plunger inside of a pivot element, the plunger's longitudinal and rotational or pivotal movements being controlled by a pin engaging a slot in the plunger, and also by a guide pin traversing an arcuate slot in a tablet support arm. The adjustment mechanism may limit lateral or sideward movement of the tablet when the tablet is in its fully lowered or stowed position and during at least some of the pivotal movement toward its raised position.
