A solar panel is coupled to the top side of the mounting means. A charger housing is coupled to the chair. A plurality of ports is coupled to the charger housing and is in operational communication with the solar panel. A connection between the tray and one of the first and second legs includes a female connector depending from the underside of a tray and a male connector rising from the leg. An interlock slides between the female and male connectors and is operated by a handle integral with the interlock. Resilient arms integral with the interlock and handle keep the interlock engaged and automatically draw back the interlock after the handle slides the interlock to a disengaged position such that the tray can be removed from the legs.

Abstract: A retractable canopy for a vehicle, the retractable canopy moving independently of a vehicle roll bar being retracted or raised. Canopies for weather protection both from excessive exposure to the sun and from precipitation are commonly used on many types of vehicles, which in many cases may be motorized. For safety reasons, and often also legal requirements, these vehicles may be equipped with a roll bar or similar structure to protect the operator of the vehicle from injury in the event that the vehicle rolls over. When the vehicle encounters a low-lying obstruction, the canopy may be quickly lowered to enable the vehicle to travel underneath and past the obstruction, after which the canopy may be quickly raised again. Raising or lowering of the canopy is independent of whether the roll bar is raised or lowered, and raising or lowering of the roll bar is independent of the canopy position.

The frame structure is attached to the body or handles of a wheelchair and hangs over the user sitting in the wheelchair. The fabric hood is waterproof and covers the top of the frame structure. A curtain made of transparent plastics or mesh screen is attached to the fabric hood or the frame structure and hangs down from the top in all directions to enclose the wheelchair user to near ground level and protect the user from rain, wind, bugs, sun, or other undesired outdoor conditions.

The sun shade also includes a flexible support member along each side of its overall frame structure, which allows the sun shade to be positioned at various angles with respect to the horizontal plane.
