  • Patent number: 4655503
Abstract: A seat back of a vehicular seat is movably supportable in the fore and aft direction relative to a seat cushion and lockable in its forward and rearward positions. The back side of the seat back serves as a part of a seat for a child in the forward position in which the child is restrained relative to the seat back by a seat belt assembly, while the front side of the seat back serves as a part of a usual passenger seat in the rearward position, thereby providing a sufficient comfortableness to the seated child without deteriorating the function of the usual passenger seat.

  • Patent number: 4596420
Abstract: A child's seat assembly securable, preferably within the seat back of the backseat of a vehicle. This invention includes a molded seal and frame which is interconnectable between the vehicle's seat back support structure. The molded seat is releasably positionable, generally within the perimeter of the frame, which is preferably tubular. The frame fits either between two seat back portions or at one end of a seat back portion when installed as original vehicle equipment. When installed as an after-market accessory, the vehicle's existing seat back must be modified to accommodate installation of the frame to the support structure of the vehicle. This assembly includes two lateral head support panels, a torso containment panel, and, preferably, a foot support panel. The two head support panels are generally vertically hinged, the hinges mounted along either upper portion of the frame, while the foot support is hinged along a lower transverse cross member of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4435011
Abstract: A seat has an armrest pivotable between an operating position approximately parallel to the seat cushion and a position parallel to the seat back, and translatable in the operating position between two heights with respect to the seat cushion. A first bracket fixed to the seat back includes an arcuate cut-out and a pin-receiving portion. A second bracket is pivotably connected to the first bracket opposite a first end of the cut-out, and is pivotably connected to the armrest, the distance between the pivotal points approximating the radius of curvature of the cut-out. The armrest has a projecting pin engageable in the cut-out, which serves to guide the pin, and thus the armrest, during rotation of the armrest. A recess at the first end of the cut-out allows the pin to disengage therefrom and the pin can then be raised to the level of the pin-receiving member and supported thereby.

  • Patent number: 4248476
Abstract: A seat assembly device having a lower drawer storage compartment and being convertible into two back-to-back seats. The seat is comprised of a lower box-shaped base member having a sliding drawer storage area therein; the base member having a horizontal cushioned top and a cushioned back member extending vertically therefrom. The cushioned back member has a cushioned front and back face with the back face connected to the front face by a hinge member along the top edge of each face member. When not in use, the second seat member and its support means are folded behind said back face member and are secured to the base member along a rod extending along the top back edge of the base. In order to use the second seat, the back face is swung up along its hinge so that the second seat member can be lowered to a horizontal position and its support member swung out to a downward vertical position along the front edge of the second seat member.
