Abstract: A seat cushion is swingable about an axis A with respect to a seat cushion support frame that is a part of a main frame. A cushion return spring that is a flat spring is disposed between the seat cushion and the seat cushion support frame so that an elastic force of the cushion return spring returns the seat cushion to a neutral position. A pair of clamp rollers that clamps the cushion return spring is disposed. The clamp rollers are movable along a longitudinal axis of the cushion return spring. Changing of a clamping position by moving the clamp rollers changes an effective length of the cushion return spring. In this way, a swingable range of the seat cushion and a force to return the seat cushion to the neutral position are changed.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a tilt-in-space wheelchair that limits the shift of the center of a gravity of a wheelchair occupant during tilting. The wheelchair comprises a main frame adapted to be supported on a surface by wheels, a seat frame for supporting a occupant, and an arc plate for slidably or rollably supporting the seat frame with respect to the main frame. The arc plate defines a first track and a second track that guide the tilting of the seat frame relative to the frame. The first track and second track may have non-constant curvatures. Further, the first track and second track may be arranged non-concentrically on the arc plate and may have different lengths.
Abstract: A furniture member rocker spring assembly includes first and second bracket members arranged in mirror image configuration. First and second springs are positioned between and in direct contact with each of the first and second bracket members. A restrictor bolt assembly is positioned between the first and second springs. The restrictor bolt assembly includes at least one sleeve member received in an aperture of the first and second bracket members. The sleeve member is in sliding contact with the first and second bracket members. A fastener extends through a sleeve bore of each of the first and second sleeve members. The fastener retains the first sleeve member in contact with the second sleeve member.
Abstract: A balance chair includes a central vertical post with a base attached at a lower end of the central post; a flexible joint attached at an upper end of the central post, a seat attached atop the flexible joint; and a plurality of resistance members attached to the central post and the seat, wherein the plurality of resistance members are arranged around the post in a spaced-apart manner, wherein the flexible joint supports the seat and enables the seat to pivot about an effective pivot point as defined by the shape and composition of the flexible joint, and wherein the resistance members resist but do not prevent pivoting of the seat about the effective pivot point. The flexible joint and the resistance members support pivoting of the seat both side-to-side and fore-and aft and any combination thereof. The resistance members limit a degree of pivoting of the seat.
