Abstract: An apparatus in an example comprises a seat, a torso support, and a connector. The seat comprises a rigid core. The torso support is coupled with the seat. The connector is coupled with the seat and/or the torso support. The connector is removably connectable with an accessory that serves to at least in part support a weight of a patient relative to a load-bearing surface. A location of the patient on the seat with a front of the patient faced toward the torso support and the connector coupled with the accessory allows control by a caregiver of an upper body of the patient for and during transfer of the patient by the caregiver from a start location to a target location.

Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly includes a base portion, a support bracket, a seatback frame and a cushion frame. The support bracket is pivotally coupled to the base portion about a first axis. The seatback frame is pivotally coupled to the support bracket about a second axis that is spaced apart from the first axis. The cushion frame is pivotally coupled to the support bracket about a third axis that is spaced apart from both the first and second axes, such that the seatback frame and the cushion frame move with the support bracket relative to the base portion when the support bracket pivots about the first axis.

  • Patent number: 8622473
Abstract: A chair includes a seat and a supporting structure associated for positioning of the seat in an orientation in which the seat has a downward inclination towards its front edge. The supporting structure includes an elongate member on each side of the chair, each member extending substantially continuously between the seat and a rearward region of the chair via a floor-engaging region of the supporting structure. Each elongate member has a generally loop-shaped configuration, with the seat end region of the elongate member overlying the opposite end region of the elongate member, and has an inherent resilience with a bias in which the seat end region is spaced from the opposite end region in the unoccupied state of the chair and the seat has the desired forwardly-downward inclination, wherein the resilience is selected such that the seat end region approaches or comes into engagement with the opposite end region when the chair is occupied.

Abstract: A chair includes a base that has a generally U-shaped member. The generally U-shaped member is comprised of a front member attached to a first end portion and a second end portion. A seat is supported on the base and is moveable from an upright position to a reclined position. A first resilient member is attached to the first end portion of the generally U-shaped member. A second resilient is attached to the second end portion of the generally U-shaped member. End portions of the first and second resilient members are attached to the seat adjacent to a rear portion of the seat. The first and second resilient members are sized and configured to resiliently move or flex such that the seat is positioned at the reclined position when a user sits on the seat.

Abstract: Dynamic furniture having platforms in dynamic attachment to an actuator assembly that in turn is in dynamic attachment to a base. Use of motional platforms supported by a motional actuator assembly permits an article of the furniture to conform to the many and varied body positions a user wants, and allows a user to more easily change body positions while remaining within the furniture, and in medical scenarios may obviate most needs to transfer a patient from one article of furniture to another.

Abstract: A vehicle seat device in which a seat can be simply and reliably held at a storage position. In a vehicle seat, a vehicle width direction outer side end portion of a seat cushion is supported so as to be capable of rotating around a drive shaft having an axis along a vehicle front-rear direction, and the seat cushion can be switched between a seating configuration at which an occupant can be seated and a storage configuration at which the seat cushion stands erect along a vehicle cabin inner side surface, due to being rotated around the drive shaft by a driving motor. Further, the vehicle seat which is in the storage configuration is held at the storage configuration by a striker.

Abstract: An automatically adjustable chair structure essentially includes a chair body, a base, an extension bar, at least one first cushion mechanism, and at least one second cushion mechanism. When a user sits on the chair body, the user's body weight is cushioned by the first and second cushion mechanisms. In addition, the two sled runner-shaped supports lying on the floor and the pivotable design of the extension bar allow the extension bar to move backward. Thus, the tilt angle of the chair body can be automatically changed to suit the user's sitting posture.

  • Patent number: 8434808
Abstract: A vehicle seat has a seatback movable between an upright position and a horizontal position, a seat bottom movable between a use position perpendicular to the seatback and a stowage position parallel to the seatback, and a lock mechanism for holding the seat bottom at the stowage position when the seat bottom is moved to the stowage position. When the seatback is moved to the horizontal position, the vehicle seat has a dive-down state where the seatback and the seat bottom are stacked on top of the other. The seat bottom has a detection lever that, when the seat bottom becomes the dive-down state, comes into contact with a floor panel and is displaced. In the lock mechanism, when the detection lever is displaced, the function of holding the seat bottom at the stowage position becomes ineffective.
