Abstract: A seating arrangement provides a relatively flat surface in the seating area of passenger vehicles to rest. The present invention allows the passenger to remain in the seat and be able to rest on a fully inclined seat providing a flat horizontal surface. In one embodiment, the back seat cushion(s) can be removable and thus the front seat backs rest upon the same platform support as the back seat cushions. In a second embodiment, the rear seat cushions have removable rear seat cushion sections to allow the front backs to fully recline into a horizontal position in the open voids formed after the headrest is removed. In a third embodiment applicable to the first two embodiments, the rear seat backs can be removed to extend the resting area into the trunk. In a fourth embodiment second row seats are fully reclinable onto the third row seats.
Abstract: A fold and tumble vehicle seat assembly includes a seat cushion having an underside that forms a floor surface when the seat cushion is rotated to a stowed position, and a seat flap attached to the seat cushion for bridging a gap formed between the seat cushion and an adjacent vehicle floor surface when the seat cushion is in the stowed position. The seat flap has an outer sleeve formed of a first material and an insert received in the sleeve formed of a second material.
Abstract: A seating unit (1) comprises a fixed housing (10) containing a primary seat with a reclinable back arranged to recline in such a manner that it remains within the housing. The seating unit is suitable for a aircraft cabin and may further comprise a leg-rest arranged to cooperate with the seating portion to form part of a substantially flat surface when the back is reclined in a substantially horizontal position. The seating unit may further comprise a secondary seat (3) positioned to face the primary seat, the secondary seat having a seating portion positioned to cooperate with the leg-rest of the primary seat to form a portion of the substantially flat surface when the back of the primary seat is reclined in the substantially horizontal position. Privacy between seats and use of available space within an aircraft cabin may be optimised by arranging at least some of the seats in an echelon.
