  • Patent number: 5937526
Abstract: An attachment comb for use with a hair clipper that includes a series of teeth with lower peripheral surfaces of a particular curve that are configured for comfortable movement along the surface of a subject's head, and where the teeth are also preferably proportioned in such a manner as to permit the hair to be uniformly trimmed to relatively long lengths of an inch or greater. Specifically, in the present attachment comb, at least one of the teeth preferably includes a widened rib portion that extends along at least a portion of the length of the lower peripheral edge of that tooth. In addition, the lower peripheral surfaces of the teeth are preferably curved into a half-teardrop shape that includes both a concave curved surface and a convex curved surface. Finally, the teeth may be flared outwardly as they extend away from the base portion so that the hair being cut can be directed toward the cutting blades on the hair clipper.

Abstract: A hair clipper includes, in addition to a cutter head, a hair entrapping member and a hair pressing member which are both movable relative to a cutting edge of the cutter head. The cutter head comprises a toothed stationary blade and a toothed movable blade. The movable blade is driven to reciprocate in shearing engagement with the stationary blade for shearing hairs therebetween. The hair entrapping member is movable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position the hair entrapping member is spaced away from the cutting edge of the cutter head, thus permitting hairs to enter between the hair entrapping member and the cutting edge. • Patent number: 5237751
Abstract: Apparatus for tipping a horn of a horned animal by removing a selected portion thereof. A positioning member having an aperture which extends between first and second side surfaces thereof is pivotally mounted to a cutting member having a cutting edge formed along a first side surface thereof. The aperture is defined by an inner side surface of the positioning member which includes a first, inwardly tapered, portion and a second, untapered, portion. When the positioning member is placed over the horn, first and second edge surfaces which define first and second boundaries of the inwardly tapered portion circumferentially bite into the horn at first and second locations, respectively. The cutting member is then pivoted towards the positioning member to sever the selected portion of the horn. The cutting member is comprised of a support member having a cut-away portion and a blade member flush mounted in the cut-away portion of the support member.

  • Patent number: 5123159
Abstract: A hair clipper has an elongated housing with a cutter head at its front and an elongated base cover connected thereto for movement between open and closed positions. The cutter head includes a stationary blade with a row of teeth and a movable blade with a like row of teeth which is driven to reciprocate relative to the stationary blade in hair shearing engagement therebetween. The teeth of the stationary and movable blades are cooperative to define a cutting edge. The base cover is formed at its front with a hair entrapping edge which extends substantially parallel with the cutting edge and which is kept spaced from the cutting edge in the open position and comes close to the cutting edge in the closed position. The hairs are introduced past the hair entrapping edge over the cutting edge in the open position, and subsequently seized between the hair entrapping edge and the cutting edge in the closed position for shearing at the cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 5105541
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electric shaving and hair trimming apparatus, with a first cutter arrangement or shaver assembly comprised of upper cutter and lower cutter for cutting short hair, and with a second cutter arrangement or trimmer head comprised of trimmer blade and trimmer plate for shortening long hair, with the use of the trimmer head involving a spacer comb seatable on the first and second cutter arrangement. When the apparatus is turned on, the trimmer head is invariably moved by an ON-OFF slide control means from its lowermost position (OFF position), in which its distance to the tip of the spacer comb is at a maximum, to its uppermost position in which its distance to the tip of the spacer comb is at a minimum and in which the shortest cutting length is set. In this manner, it is ensured that when starting operation of the trimmer head the beard hair is initially cut at the longest cutting length setting.

  • Patent number: 5060380
Abstract: A hair cutter has a housing with a part-cylindrical cutter head and a comb member. The cutter head comprises an outer shear plate having a number of perforations and an inner cutter assembly. The inner cutter assembly includes a rotary shaft carrying a plurality of radially oriented cutter blades in a circumferentially spaced relation about an axis of the rotary shaft. The outer shear plate is arcuately curved in transverse cross section to cover a portion of the curve centered on the rotary shaft axis so as to have its inside surface in hair shearing engagement with the cutter blades. The inner cutter assembly is driven by a drive source in the housing in such a manner that the cutter blades sweep the inside surface of the outer shear plate for shearing hairs introduced through the perforations. The comb member has a number of comb teeth which are spaced along the rotary shaft axis and extend over an perforated area of the outer shear plate for smoothing the hairs into the perforations.

Each of the main cutter and the trimmer is a reciprocatory cutter comprising a toothed stationary blade and a toothed movable blade driven to reciprocate in hair shearing engagement with the stationary blade. The trimmer is movable between a retracted position in which a cutting edge of the trimmer is behind a cutting edge of the main cutter and a projected position in which the cutting edge of the trimmer projects forwardly of the main cutter so that the trimmer alone can be used. The trimmer blades are formed to be smaller in thickness as well as in cutting edge width than those of the main cutter blades in order to facilitate a delicate trimming of hairs in a restricted area of a user's head by the trimmer.
