    Abstract: A hand-held cutting tool can make repeated precision cuts into hard materials after being repeatedly exposed to highly corrosive and oxidizing conditions. The cutting portion comprises a hardened tool-steel insert forming the tool's cutting edge. The surface of each member is hard chrome plated except for the hardened tool-steel cutting edge. Each member comprises a recessed portion of complementary size and configuration to accommodate interaction between the members. A washer resides between each member to accommodate unwanted space and a screw is used to hingedly join each member together so that the cutting edges are aligned in an opposed fashion directed toward each other.     Abstract: The invention relates to a pair of scissors and a mould and a method for the manufacture of a pair of scissors. The scissors comprise two scissor blades of metal, a ceramic material or the like, and two plastic handle portions which both form a tongue positioned on the outer surface of the blade and surrounding the scissor hinge. By virtue of variation in the position of the hole of the blade, through which hole the scissor hinge goes, the points of the blades and the counter faces of the handle portions must be finished manually. This can be avoided if at least one hole has a larger diameter than the outer diameter of the hinge pin so that the bearing surfaces formed by the tongues can, if necessary, be placed eccentrically with respect to the hole of the blades.

    Abstract: Scissors have a pair of pivotally interconnections blades and a ball-shaped handle. One embodiment has a pair transversely spaced, outwardly-convex, partly ball-shaped handle members at the rear end portions of the blades and an elastomeric member compressibly interposed between the handle members biasing the blades toward an open position. The handle members and elastomeric member have complementary, partly ball shapes providing an overall external configuration of a single ball. Another embodiment has a hollow, flexible ball completely covering and enclosing partially ball shaped handle members, the pivotal interconnections between the blades is concealed within the ball shaped covering, and a formed wire spring member is anchored at the interconnections and its opposite ends are seated against inner surfaces of the handle members. In each embodiment, manual squeezing pressure applied by a user's palm or fingers closes the blades against the bias of the elastomeric or wire spring member.

    Abstract: A crimping and cutting tool useable for cutting wire and connection of a ferrule tip type electrical connector to an electrically conductive wire. The tool includes first and second lever members pivotally connected with a pivot pin. Each lever member has a head with a cutting jaw and a crimping jaw and a handle. The crimping jaws have alternative teeth and recesses in opposition to one another. The crimping jaws are movable toward one another to crimping position by applying hand force on the levers wherein each of the teeth of one of the crimping jaws fills a recess of the opposite jaw. The recesses have differing sizes such that differing sizes of electrical connectors or ferrules can be accommodated in the recesses and crimped therein. Wire cutting jaws have convex curved cutting edges located above the pivot pin.

    Abstract: A pair of cutter blades is provided for cutting sheet metal in flat tubular form. The blades are pivotally connected together in scissors-fashion so as to be capable of relative movement between each other. At least one of the blades is formed with a cutting edge comprising a piercing point or region having on each side portions which trail the leading extremity of the piercing point or region considered in the direction of cutting, whereby in operation after initial piercing of the metal to be cut, and on continued cutting, the incision made by the piercing point or region increases away from the pierced region towards the sides of the material being cut. The blades may be operated by means of a piston and cylinder device driving a pair of links connecting the piston to the two blades at positions off-set from the pivotal axis of the two blades.

It is safely used as scissors without pinching fingers etc. between the ricassos and, in its closed state, advantageously used as a paper knife.

The instrument of the invention may be operated as a conventional needleholder and, to that end, it has a pair of jaws in which a suture needle may be securely held for the suturing operation, and it also has a usual clasp mechanism for locking the jaws in their closed position. However, in accordance with the concepts of the invention, one of the arms of the instrument is split into two co-extensive elongated sections, both being pivoted at the pivot point of the instrument. The distal end of the first section is formed into one of the jaws of the instrument, and that arm functions with the other arm of the instrument to perform the conventional needle holding function.
