Abstract: A utility knife includes a housing pivotally fixed with a blade holder that can move between a retracted position with the blade holder at least partially contained within the housing, and an extended position. A spring clip spans at least partially across the blade holder and traverses a spring clip slot to engage a notch of a utility blade held within the blade holder. When pressed upwardly, the spring clip clears the notch of the blade, releasing the blade within the blade holder such that the blade can be pulled out of and away from the blade holder. In use, with the blade holder in the retracted position, the blade holder can be moved into the extended position by pressing against the actuator section of the spring clip. The utility knife can be used in this manner with either the left or right hand.

Abstract: A quick-change cutting assembly includes a base having a support surface for supporting a cutting blade, a clamping arm having a clamping surface, a spring interposed between the base and the clamping arm, and a pivot defining a pivot axis between the spring and the clamping surface that couples the clamping arm to the base. The spring biases the clamping surface toward the support surface and a cutting blade therebetween. The clamping arm is pivotable between a closed position where the clamping surface is parallel to the support surface and an open position removed from the closed position where the clamping surface is spaced further from the support surface. The cutting assembly further includes a locking pin transverse the direction of biasing action of the spring that connects the clamping arm to the base to prevent the clamping arm from pivoting relative to the base when in the closed position.

Abstract: Presented embodiments of the handheld cutting tool are capable of cutting in one of two ways: with the cutting edge of the blade only so as to minimize damage to objects not intended to be cut or, alternately, with the point of the blade as with more typical knives. The tool is comprised predominantly of a handle body, a blade holder and a rotational control assembly for allowing the blade holder to rotate. The blade holder holds either a replaceable isosceles trapezoid utility blade or replaceable single edge razor blade and has, in some embodiments, a portion that isolates parts of the blade from objects not intended to be cut. The rotational control assembly enables the blade holder to rotate between retracted and a plurality of extended positions thus permitting the blade holder to deploy the blade at various angles to facilitate proper cutting of materials.

The auxiliary handle is biased out of the upper open cavity in the first open position to allow a user to grasp the auxiliary handle and the first handle member with one hand to easily achieve an initial cutting operation.

The scraping section includes a jaw plate, a blade and a fastening button. The jaw plate extends backward to form an arm. The jaw plate is attached to the inside of the jaw plate groove of the scraping section by a fastener that also serves as a lever pivot for swinging back and forth. When a fastening button goes into the inside of the jaw plate of the scraping section, it pushes the inner side of the arm of the jaw plate, and so as to generate a great holding power for the front of the jaw plate.
