Blade Connections Patents (Class 30/342)
  • Patent number: 6276063
Abstract: A folding knife with a safety for blade is provided. When a blade of the folding knife has been turned to an extended position, a slip switch of the safety for blade is moved to a safety lock position to depress a push element, so that the push element engages a lower end with a first locking hole on the blade, preventing the blade from undesirably closing in the event a blade lock of the folding knife is unexpectedly released or the blade is subject to an over big impact. On the other hand, when the blade has been turned to a folded position in a handle of the knife and the slip switch is moved to the safety lock position, the push element engages its lower end with a second locking hole on the blade to prevent the blade from undesirably separating from the handle. The safety for blade therefore provides the folding knife with a further means to ensure the safe use of the folding knife.

  • Patent number: 6187003
Abstract: A bipolar electrosurgical instrument has opposable seal surfaces on its jaws for grasping and sealing vessels and vascular tissue. Inner and outer instrument members allow arcuate motion of the seal surfaces. An open lockbox provides a pivot with lateral support to maintain alignment of the lateral surfaces. Ratchets on the instrument members hold a constant closure force on the tissue during the seal process. A shank portion on each member is tuned to provide an appropriate spring force to hold the seal surfaces together. During surgery, the instrument can be used to grasp and clamp vascular tissue and apply bipolar electrosurgical current through the clamped tissue. In one embodiment, the seal surfaces are partially insulated to prevent a short circuit when the instrument jaws are closed together. In another embodiment, the seal surfaces are removably mounted on the jaws.

  • Patent number: 6170158
Abstract: A foldable pocket knife constructed to look like a fine writing pen includes a quick opening blade moved about 180° from the closed to the open position by grasping a pivotally movable portion of the knife handle which moves with the blade as a unit for 180° to open the blade and then continues in its pivotable movement 360° to its original position where its functions, together with a stationary handle portion, as the handle of the knife. The knife blade is closed by moving the moveable portion of the handle in the reverse direction to engage the blade and subsequently move together with the blade as a unit back to the original position adjacent the stationary portion of the handle. Accordingly, the user's hand need not contact the blade in either the opening nor the closing movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 6148526
Abstract: A handheld machine tool, for example a circular saw, has a disk-shaped tool which is driven in rotation in a housing which holds a drive motor and a tool shaft carrying the tool. The tool can be clamped between a clamping nut, a clamping screw, and two supporting flanges. One supporting flange can be rotated easily relative to the tool shaft without use of auxiliary tools and is supported with an extensive friction at the tool. This supporting flange can be dependably clamped or loosened without tools. The machine tool further has an adjusting device which is coupled with that supporting flange to displace the latter axially toward the tool when that supporting shaft is rotated relative to the tool shaft due to rotational driving. The adjusting device therefore clamps the tool with an increasing force and tries to displace that supporting flange axially away from the tool automatically when the tool is stopped and accordingly reduces the clamping force.

  • Patent number: 6145201
Abstract: Manual shaving devices for shaving underarm areas and other small contoured skin surfaces. Each device has a head structure contains one or more razor blade strips between two non-shaving side glide surfaces. In preferred embodiments, the head structure has exposed blade strips about 12 mm to 25 mm (0.5" to 1.0") long, and glide areas each preferably 6 mm to 12 mm long. The blade strips may be straight or curved. The glide areas are preferably rounded with rounded edges, and may smooth or textured. Each device helps facilitate safe shaving of skin surfaces that are soft and pliable by allowing the user to apply, through the glide areas, a non-cutting force to the general area of the skin surface being shaved. This helps alter the skin contour to more closely match that of the sharpened razor blade edges of the device, which are relatively short in length and only bear lightly against the skin to be shaved.

  • Patent number: 5689883
Abstract: A shaving implement, such as a disposable cartridge or razor, comprises a shaving head which includes a skin-contacting element, in the form of a plurality of sections of flexible ridges. The ridges in each section are oriented alternately at positive and negative angles relative to the blade, in a herringbone pattern, and define flow-through recesses. Preferably, a ridge from each section is joined together with a ridge from an adjoining section, to form a chevron-shaped node between sections. When shaving, adjacent sections push areas of the skin in different directions, while the flow-through channels retain a layer of lubricating material on the skin, so that the cartridge provides a smooth, comfortable shave.

  • Patent number: 5621971
Abstract: A unique, highly effective, electric dry shaver incorporating rotary cutting blades for use by women to effectively, conveniently, and comfortably shave both legs and underarms is achieved by incorporating a blade guard removably mountable to the electric shaver for partially blocking the rotary cutting blades while also smoothing and/or stretching the soft underarm skin. By employing the rotary cutting blade guard of the present invention, the soft, pliable skin typically found in underarms is comfortably smoothed, spread, and/or stretched to prevent any cutting or pinching of the skin by the blades. As a result, a close, comfortable shave is attained, with all of the hair being completed cut, regardless of the contours of the skin surface or the soft, pliable nature of the skin. Furthermore, when the legs are to be shaven, the blade guard is removed thereby fully exposing the side walls of the slotted outer cutter so it can be used in its entirety.
