Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of method and apparatus are provided for resurfacing of skin that includes formation of a plurality of small holes, e.g., having widths less than about 1 mm or 0.5 mm. For example, such small holes can be produced using a mechanical apparatus that includes one or more abrading elements provided at the end of one or more rotating shafts, thus avoiding generation of thermal damage as occurs with conventional laser resurfacing procedures and devices. The holes thus formed can be well-tolerated by the skin, and may exhibit shorter healing times and less swelling than conventional resurfacing procedures. The fractional surface coverage of the holes can be between about 0.1 and 0.7, or between about 0.2 and 0.5. The device can be constructively divided into two or three separate modules: a basic module, a disposable or hygienic module and an optional ink module. The basic module corresponds to the handle that includes the needle drive and is designed such that the hygienic module can be safely attached and connected to the integrated needle drive.

Abstract: A punching machine has a power-driven plunger to which a punch is chucked to be driven into and out of a die for perforating sheet-metal work. The plunger has a punch socket formed centrally in its end for receiving the shank of the punch, and a plurality of ball guideways extending radially outwardly from the punch socket. Locking balls are slidably received one in each ball guideway for movement into and out of locking engagement in an annular groove in the shank of the punch received in the punch socket. Concentrically mounted on the plunger, a cam ring is sprung in one axial direction of the plunger for urging the locking balls into locking engagement with the punch shank. Each locking ball is elongated radially of the plunger with a view to reduction of the machine dimension axially of the plunger for given diameters of the plunger and the punch.

  • Patent number: 5551319
Abstract: A marking device with a reciprocating needle. The needle is attached to an armature which reciprocates in a slot in a housing by a crank which is rotated by a motor in the housing. Vibration of the motor and tolerances between the armature and track cause unwanted movements of the needle in a plane perpendicular to the reciprocating motion. Guide bars and bushings connect the armature to the track. Tolerances between the guide bars and bushings are less than tolerances between the armature and track. An armature bracket is detachably connected to the housing in order to partially or fully close off an open end of the track after the armature has been inserted into the track. Guide bars and bushings then connect the armature and the armature bracket. The motor is supported on only one end by bolts extending from a mounting wall inside the housing. A damping plate is positioned between the motor and the mounting wall, and a damping ring is positioned between, and contacts, the damping ring and the housing.
