Abstract: A hand held saw for use with hacksaw blades with a low profile frame including a reduced height support post and cross support member attached to the post a short distance from the blade. A screwdriver-type handle is attached at a right angle to the post to permit a horizontal hand grip. A simplified blade fastener extends longitudinally through the post to attach the blade to the handle, the body of the fastener being aligned with the length of the blade and axis of the handle.
Abstract: A pack frame is disclosed herein having first and second frame sections joined together by tubular segments and adapted to be converted from its usage as a back frame to a multiplicity of other configurations useful as a cutting saw, a gun or camera monopod, a seat and the like. The pack frame is made of metal tubular components having snap-lock connections for ready assembly and disassembly and further includes shoulder straps for supporting the pack frame from a person's shoulders, and a storage bag is detachably carried to the lower portion or section of the frame.
Abstract: A hacksaw frame having a blade holder having opposed blade clamping surfaces and means for locking the surfaces in clamping relationship loosely mounted on the frame for holding a hacksaw blade, and tensioning means on the frame for holding a blade under tension.
Abstract: A saw holder includes a handle and a finger-like extension projecting forwardly from a front end of the handle. The handle includes a downwardly open recess for receiving a rear section of a sawblade. A bridge extends transversely across a front end of the recess for supporting the sawblade from beneath. A front portion of the extension includes a downwardly open groove for receiving a front section of the sawblade. A forwardly and downwardly inclined clamping screw is disposed in the handle for applying a downward force to the sawblade along a line of force disposed rearwardly of the point of contact between the sawblade and the bridge so that the force presses the sawblade downwardly against the bridge in a manner swinging the front section of the sawblade upwardly about that contact point and into contact with an upper surface of the groove.
Abstract: A hacksaw frame has a plurality of pivotally mounted fingers of different lengths to allow a blade to be mounted in a variety of different positions. Lever means for providing increased blade tension are disclosed.
Abstract: A hand held hacksaw which has a handle (20) formed of two pieces with pair of parallel recesses (22) inside. A support arm (28) with, a straight end and an angular end, is inserted into the upper recess also a hacksaw blade (32) is placed in the lower recess, a groove (30) is formed in the arm at the intersection of the blade for support and stability. A screw (38) and nut (40) hold the handle together and unify all of the elements in their preselected position.
Abstract: A hand guard for a hacksaw has main portions extending outwardly and rearwardly from a rear post of the hacksaw frame and top and bottom portions smoothly connecting upper and lower regions of the main portions with upper and lower regions of the rear post. The guard forms a cup-like receptacle for the fingers and knuckles of the hand of the user to protect them from contact with foreign objects. The top portions of the guard have depressions therein for receiving the thumb of the user in a comfortable extended position.
Abstract: A collapsible saw comprising an elongated hollow frame member, a handle pivotally connected to the frame member by an interconnecting member to form an angle with a saw blade connected between the free end portions of the angle, and a lever pivotally attached to the free end portion of the handle including a device for engagement with the saw blade and arranged to hold the saw blade by means of toggle action. When the saw is in the position for use, the handle and the interconnecting member abut the frame member at a distance from the point of attachment for the interconnecting member. The saw thus combines a rigid structure with rapid engagement of the saw blade.
