Abstract: A surgical blade assembly includes a blade having side surfaces defining a width greater than its thickness. The surgical blade assembly also includes a reinforcing member having a body portion, and first and second arms extending from the body portion to define a receiving portion. The receiving portion is configured to receive the blade and the first and second arms are configured to abut the side surfaces of the blade. The first and second arms act as a strut to reinforce the blade against external forces applied to the blade. The blade and the reinforcing member may include coupling features to prevent separation of the reinforcing member from the blade. The blade and the reinforcing member may be substantially perpendicular to each other when coupled.

Abstract: A blade replacement tool for use in replacing a combine cutting saw knife. The blade replacement tool includes a cable that is operatively connected to a connection link that is used for transferring pulling force to a connected combine cutting saw knife. A pull handle is fastened to the cable. The pull handle receives a pulling force that is transferred via the cable and via the connection link to a connected combine cutting saw knife. The cable is strong, thin and flexible. The pull handle is at least two feet (2 ft.) long. The connection link includes an attachment bracket having first and second apertures for attaching to a cutting saw knife (sickle) via mating apertures in a cutting saw knife (sickle).

Abstract: A hedgetrimmer having a blade assembly that includes a sawblade for cutting through larger branches and other vegetative foliage. The sawblade portion is fixedly secured to the reciprocating hedgetrimmer blade assembly to move in linear back and forth motion. It extends beyond a support bar for the hedgetrimmer blades so that it's able to cut through the branch. A support bracket is attached to the support bar to brace and support the branch as its being cut by the saw blade. Also included is a pivotable guard bar at the tip of the blade assembly so protect the blades and to protect any object or structure that may be accidently struck by the blade assembly.
Abstract: Devices and methods for use in removing the foliage from stems of leafy vegetables and sprigs of herbs are shown and described. The device has a body that is sized and shaped to fit comfortably into a one hand. The body can be generally flat and can have at least one edge following a convex curve. A trimming blade projects outwardly from at least a portion of the convexly curved edge of the body. A selection of apertures of different sizes extends through the body. The user can select an aperture large enough to allow the stem to pass through, but too small for the foliage to pass through. During use, a user can use the trimming blade to trim off unwanted parts from a sprig of herb or a piece of leafy vegetable, pass the sprig through a selected aperture sized to remove the foliage therefrom, and cut the foliage to the desired size by rocking the trimming blade along its length over the foliage.

Abstract: A supporting and stabilizing shoe used with a masonry circular power saw. A shoe frame rigidly mounts to the saw's motor frame. A plate that is preferably substantially planar and bifurcated to form two substantially co-planar members with a gap therebetween pivotably mounts to the shoe frame. A spring biases the plate away from the blade, but can be overcome, and an adjustment knob tightens the plate in position relative to the blade. This provides for depth adjustment for the blade and keeps the blade at a desired angle, such as ninety degrees, to the workpiece surface. The plate extends longitudinally from the motor frame beneath the drive mechanism and the blade of the saw to provide a stable surface upon which the saw can rest during use or storage.

Abstract: An apparatus for the cutting of tree limbs includes an extensible drive shaft that is detachably-attachable at one end to a portable electric drill and is secured to a housing at an opposite end thereof. Abstract: A tool for removing unwanted plants from an area of soil is disclosed. A flexible two-edged blade bent back upon itself with both ends fastened to a common shaft. The head has a neck that extends into an open distal end of the housing. A biasing assembly holds the head and neck sub-assembly in the open distal end of the housing. The biasing assembly is rotatable relative to the housing. A separate lock mechanism selectively holds the head in a fixed orientation around the saw housing longitudinal axis.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a saw including a sawhead pivotably connected to a base. The pivotable connection may define a pivot axis therethrough, wherein the pivot axis may be parallel to the horizontal plane. In addition, the sawhead may rotate around the pivot axis and may be axially displaceable along the pivot axis.

Abstract: A pole saw head which comprises a cheek plate having an integral downwardly curved arm and an integral upwardly rope setting auxiliary notched hook strategically positioned on an end of the arm. The notched hook will hold a loop of a length of rope tied in a monkey's fist knot thereto. A mechanism is for coupling the cheek plate to a top end of a pole. When the pole is manually manipulated by a person grasping the pole the notched hook can release the loop on the monkey's fist knot, so that the monkey's fist knot will appropriately uncoil when the rope is tossed over a branch of a tree.
Abstract: An apparatus for the cutting of tree limbs includes an extensible drive shaft that is detachably-attachable at one end to a portable electric drill and is secured to a housing at an opposite end thereof. The housing converts the rotary motion that is supplied by the drill into reciprocating motion of a saw blade and it disposes the saw blade at an angle with respect to the drive shaft that is slightly less than 90 degrees. An extensible two-part cylindrical outer sleeve covers the drive shaft and is detachably-attached at one end thereof to the drill and at an opposite end to the housing. A hook is provided in the housing and is used to grab and urge severed limbs where desired. An optional clamping mechanism is attached to the housing and is used initially to urge the blade and the limb toward each other during cutting and then to retain the limb proximate the housing after it has been cut for controlled placement and safe release of the limb.
Abstract: A hand saw that includes a saw blade and a handle assembly having a clamp member movable between a clamped position and a released position. In the clamped position the clamp member exerts a clamping force on a top edge of the saw blade within a slot of the handle assembly to couple the saw blade to the handle assembly and to retain a tang of the saw blade within the slot. In the released position the tang is removable from the slot. A first interior wall and a second interior wall of the handle assembly that define the slot are flat such that the tang of the saw blade can be removed from the slot without moving the saw blade in a direction normal to a longitudinal axis of the saw blade when the clamp member is in the released position.
Abstract: A power transmission system including a component having a surface and a plurality of micro-defects is provided. The surface has a distribution of asperities has a second resonance frequency distribution that is substantially outside of the resonance frequency distribution.
