Dust Blower Patents (Class 30/516)
  • Patent number: 9931704
Abstract: A power tool has a cutting element driven by a motor assembly, the motor assembly driving a fan for flowing air over the motor assembly. The power tool includes a foot plate configured to be supported on a workpiece, the foot plate defining an opening through which the cutting element extends, and at least one alignment opening arranged relative to the cutting element opening to allow the operator to visualize the cut line of the cut created by the cutting element. A motor housing is provided that supports the motor assembly on the foot plate, in which the motor housing defines a cavity substantially enclosing the motor assembly and arranged to receive airflow from the fan. A nozzle is defined in the motor housing that is configured to direct airflow from the cavity of the motor housing in an airflow line of action intersecting the at least one alignment opening.

Abstract: A dust collecting vacuum hose attachment has a unitary, hollow, tubular body member. One end of an elongated cutting blade is secured within the body member and the second end extends out of the body member. A dust collection shroud is removeably attached to the upper end of the body member for the collection of dust created by use of the saw blade through a dust creating material such as wood, drywall, etc. The lower end of the body member utilizes a connection fitting for attachment to a vacuum hose, which in turn is connected to a vacuum source. Dust created during sawing is collected and accumulated within the shroud by the suction provided by the vacuum source. The dust in turn is sucked through the body member, into a vacuum hose, and then to the vacuum source. The shroud is removeable from the body member in favor of a rasp component which collects and accumulates created dust which is also discharged by means of a vacuum source.

Abstract: A powered vinyl groover includes a motor attached to a circular blade and a blade housing for covering the circular blade. The blade housing includes a duct to carry cuttings into a collection bag. Near an inlet hole of the duct is a fin, which may be a raised surface on any interior wall of the blade housing extending into the blade housing as close as possible to the blade. The fin causes airflow from the blade to be redirected towards the inlet hole of the duct so that more cuttings enter the duct and are carried by the duct through to an outlet hole to a collection bag mountable over the outlet hole of the duct. The fin may be integral with the blade housing or attached to it, and a fin may also be added to existing groovers.

  • Patent number: 7424779
Abstract: A cutting tool is provided for preventing dust intrusion into a guide member effectively as well as cooling a housing, thereby maintaining an excellent operability. A cutting tool has a body housing including an upper housing and a lower housing. In front of a flange portion of the lower housing, right-and-left air outlets are provided. At the front end of the lower housing, right-and-left second guiding ports are provided. Further, between an insulating cover and the lower housing, clearances which allow the outlets and the second guiding ports to communicate with each other are provided. Therefore, when the insulating cover is placed, an air passage is formed in which cooling air discharged from the air outlets moves to the front passing through the clearances, and flows into a space as the junction through the second guiding ports to be discharged to the front.

  • Publication number: 20080134518
Abstract: A self-contained vacuum circular saw is presented. The vacuum saw has a casing around the saw blade that includes an accordion type lower section attached to the lower platform of the saw. A number of vacuum tubes, preferably four, are attached to the side of the circular saw opposite the blade. The armature of the circular saw that turns the blade also turns the vacuum impeller on the side opposite the blade. An impeller vacuum chamber pulls in the dust and debris created by the saw blade and discharges the dust and debris into a disposable and removable vacuum bag. An important aspect of this device is that the motor that turns the saw blade also turns the impeller, thus making the self-contained vacuum saw moveable from site to site.

  • Patent number: 5435066
Abstract: Provided is an ergonomic cutting device for cutting casts and other rigid objects comprising an oscillating cutting blade driven by a motor, a handle, and a vacuum system. The present cutting device is designed such that the offset positioning of the motor enables the weight of the motor to help manipulate and make more efficient the device. The vacuum system cools the device and draws dust produced by the cutting blade through the device without contacting the dust with the motor or other mechanical components. The motor is designed to initially engage in an idle mode when the device is turned on, then automatically sense when a load is placed on the cutting blade and, at that point, boost to a cutting mode. The motor may also be manually placed in a higher powered turbo mode. The device also includes a dynamic braking system which enables the device to stop oscillation of the blade faster than previous device.
